More defense
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Oliver is an undersized but very athletic linebacker who moved to an outside linebacker role in 2024. However, he missed all but two games due to a foot injury. Oliver is a developmental situational pass rusher at this point.

Actually like this one more than Sorrell.

Oliver primarily lined up at edge in college, but he'll likely play off the ball in the NFL. He's a disruptive run defender who made 15.5 tackles for loss in 2024. He's quick enough to beat blockers to the point of attack and shoot gaps. Oliver runs well and chases with good effort. He's an inconsistent tackler but has good stopping power. His burst, active hands and closing speed make him a threat to get to the quarterback, rushing off the edge and between the tackles.

I had a late 2nd/early 3rd grade on him. I love this pick. Doubling down on day 3 pass rushers.

I'm cool spending a 5th on a sub package pass rush specialist type.

Edit: although I guess they could try to develop him as a 4/3 LB.

Brought him up as an option back in January. So much to like with him even if he's a bit undersized.

Matches Malone wrote:Really intrigued with Oliver. His initial first step looks lethal. Showed flashes of dominance before getting injured. Excited to see how he looks at the senior bowl. If he tests well, I think he could be an edge to keep an eye on. Was a LB before transitioning to DE and putting on weight but has kept his bend and athleticism.

This is out there but there isn't a ton of difference between Oliver and Jalon Walker. The arms and hands are a little shorter but they're pretty similar in play style and athleticism.

Random side fact I heard, Joe Alt mentioned Myles Murphy and Collin Oliver as two defenders he had the most trouble with in college because of his speed and get-off.

Sounds like they are planning on keeping him as a pass rusher atleast to start. Means Enagbare, Cox, & Mosby are likely on the hotseat in camp

Cox should be in good shape based on what he showed at the end of last season.

I'll never be able to see Collin Oliver without Colin Robinson flashing through my head.
