Chances he's motivated to go up against Matthew Golden in practice? 100%

His base salary this season is $16.1 million. if he's traded (unlikely now) that would carry over. But if he's cut (also unlikely now) he wouldn't get near that from another team. He's still under contract for 2026 as well. He won't get another extension from us but if we can get he'll be looking to get one more contract from someone. Motivated/healthy Jaire is win/win. Obviously there is a lot of luck involved with health.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Willis will be gone after this season and Clifford is a nothing burger so I'm somewhat surprised we didn't pick a QB to try to develop as next year's backup. But maybe the Willis success means we'll go with an underperforming vet in the wrong system again next year.

My pet theory is Pittsburg gets weary of the Rogers drama, and opts to trade for Willis.

It's going to be absurd if they cut Jaire when they definitely need him this year and we aren't going to do anything with the cap benefit.

I really don't understand the Jaire thing. It seems like the guys in the locker room still support him but somehow the front office is acting like it's so untenable to keep him around that we're going to actively make our team worse just to get him out of town. It's not adding up to me. Just make it work for one more year.

I don't think they NEED Jaire. They had a top 10 pass defense last year and are basically returning the same CB group plus adding Hobbs. That said I don't see why the need to move on from him either. They don't have much use for the cap space except to extend guys at this point

All true and Golden being one more motivating factor.

Jaire must have really pissed them off.

Wasnt it just yesterday that it was reported he was participating in the offseason programs?

He is. It's being done virtually but I'm not sure what the heck that is. He has a workout bonus of $700k, maybe that's part of it

How so. Where will we find such a vet. UDFA?

Valentine is underrated, people routinely overlook him. Same w Ballentine only not as good; Packers resigned him right away last time; this time he got a contract elsewhere, also upgrades made him expendable. Mix in the UDFAs, give the pass rush a jolt-- and we dont' NEED Jaire.

There will be another Willis out there that can be had cheap.

Based on the ongoing musical chairs in the League at QB, that's an open question at best.

Still plenty of good free agents out there. Curious if Jaire will be gone or not. Hope we keep for 1 more year.

We still have Kalen King I think, in 2023 he was going to be a 1st rounder, maybe he can become the player he used to be.

Right now Kalen King, Micah Robinson, & Kamal Hadden(got called up for a few games last year) are likely fighting for the CB5 & CB6 spots
