babyjax approved Sexton to Dallas deal

Post#1 » by Texas Chuck » Sun Apr 27, 2025 4:29 pm

pretty sure babyjax and I hammered the gist of this out in a different thread, but wanted to see what board as a whole thinks:

Martin/Powell/Hardy/#11

for

Sexton/#21/29 UTH 2nd/31 UTH 2nd

Okay so we didn't talk about the future 2nds, but I'm going to get greedy.

Idea for Utah is to combine some stuff to move up into the lottery for a better prospect to add.
Idea for Dallas is to turn their least useful salary into a stopgap creator/6th man when Kyrie returns. The 2nds are just to give them some tools to make other small deals happen in the future. Can take them out if its too greedy.

Not bad. Martin's contract extending beyond next summer is a negative from the Jazz perspective, so they shouldn't include the seconds because of it.

He's a positive value player IMO, can be traded for expiring + a 2nd or 2...

Sounds great, the Mavs can collect the SRP(s) elsewhere. Wrap that into this trade and it's all good.

If we could somehow stay below the 2nd apron, I'd absolutely agree, even without the 2nds.
