Well this wasn’t knicks vs Cade

Dude. He had the game in his hand. Twice. And came up empty. Twice. 1 turnover. 1 missed point blank shot.

.

Still doesn’t negate the last second no call

Cade is probably the best player, but the Knicks have the next 4 or 5 best after that; with that mind, the results are pretty much what you'd expect. Getting bumped down to 5 in the draft lottery 3 straight years despite having been far and away the worst team probably limits this team's ceiling.

lol. Cade is the best player? I don’t know what game you are watching, but Brunson has been amazing. He is a winner and a leader.

Starting 5

Towns >>> Durn
Anounoby >>> Harris
Bridges >>> Auser
Hart >>> THJ
Brunson >>>/= Cade

Knicks starting 5 on paper are better individually better than the Pistons. Proud of these Pistons to go toe to toe against them.

It's not an individual game, though, otherwise, they'd have kicked our ass every game.

I'll never get over this ****. Unless they come back and win 3 games in a row. I'm still pissed off with the 1988 NBA Finals.

Pistons win Game 5, by the way.

We'll lose in either 6 or 7.

The pool report came back and they said that there should have been a foul on Josh Hart at the end of the game on THJ.

It’s hard to believe that 3 FT’s for an 85% FT shooter with no time remaining wouldn’t have changed the outcome of a 1 point game. :nonono:

Just got back from the game. Heartbreaking loss. Everyone just kind of stood shocked and silent for like 2 minutes after the buzzer. Just disbelief. My thoughts:

- League admits THJ was fouled. Detroit vs Everybody

- Everyone knew in my group that the late basket at the end of the 3rd quarter could be huge, and it was. You gotta be aware of the clock there if you're Schroeder and just lay it up.

- There were multiple just absolute bozo brain turnovers where there was no pressure on a Piston, they have a teammate wide open, and they just give them a god awful pass out of bounce because they're trying no look passes for stupid reasons. Turnovers happen, but "unforced errors" suck.

- The first 18 minutes of the game was the worst the Pistons offense has been all year. Thank god it picked up just before halftime.

- Knicks ball movement/chemistry is just soooooo much better. They can find the wide open guy and we force terrible shots and turn the ball over.

- People blaming Cade are out of their mind. He just had a legendary 3rd quarter and was the only reason they were in the game. Yes he made mistakes at the end, but a game is 48 minutes and not three.

- Brunson/KAT sold their soul to the devil to make some of those shots. Pistons did a fantastic job guarding them in the second half and they just would not miss. 9/14 from three between the two of them and a lot were contested shots, that's just super unlucky.

- I think Stew would've made a huge difference on the boards. Namely limiting a lot of the Knicks' offensive rebounds. The team just seemed so lazy going to the net and no one was boxing out.

- It seemed like 90% of the toss up out of bounds calls went in the Knicks favor. I'm sure of them were the correct call, but no way that many. Too bad we keep wasting (and losing) our challenges early in games.

- Knicks will get destroyed next round.

Absolutely sucks to go 0-2 at home by a combined 3 points. This team has a lot to work on still, but they've played their asses off every game this series. Super proud of this team. The team is super young and the future is bright. Getting Ivey back, another year of growth, and potentially adding a big name, this team is building to something special.

I’m taking Tobias over Anunoby but outside of that they are better everywhere else including the bench and coach

I can't believe some folks got upset with me for talking about how we need to improve this off-season, instead of focusing on the Knicks series.
Honestly, the Knicks are a bad team but they are way better and 3x times smarter than us. Langdon better get some size and find a legitimate #2 scorer this off=season or you're going to see the same f'ing result. Get another scorer in case Cade doesn't have, makes bad decisions or just doesn't show up.

Adding Ivey won't make a difference imo. Add Zion and we blow the Knickerbockers ass out

Kudos to the Lions for having a nice draft

I don't see it that way. Add Stewart and Ivey to the mix, and Pistons would be up 3-1. They lost 2 games by 3 points. Bickerstaff is as good as Thibs. Talent is just undeveloped and far from the peak, but just as good as the Knicks overall long term. Yes, right now Knicks have a more seasoned peaking starting 5, but they are barely winning. Inexperience shows. Effort and tenasity is there though, and they will have a better team going forward. Towns is going to choke, he is soft.

This is the primary reason we lost this game, and every other one in this series. I'm not going to say they can't get better in this regard, but I'm still disappointed with the lack lack of progress.

Question-

If the Pistons still had a challenge available, could it have been used on that last play? Can you challenge a non-call?

You can't challenge non-calls, but it would be interesting to know if the Knicks had a challenge left. I'm assuming they didn't? Because if they still did that would be disgusting.

If the league were just, the Pistons would file a protest and Hardaway would shoot 3 free throws before game 5 to determine the outcome of game 4. I know it will never happen, but that's would should happen. We all know Brunson would have got that call with all of the foul merchant garbage he gets away with

I take solace in the fact that even if we had executed better in this series, we would've gotten absolutely destroyed by boston anyway.

You are pretty spot on but the Pistons need a #1 go to option because Cade isn’t him.

Again, I’ll emphasize:

This core won 14 games last year.

And no, I’m not saying that in a “we should be grateful for what we have” sense. That’s not the point.

The point is we’re still working things out. You can’t shake off all of that in 10 months.

This is still about the long view. The fact that we made more progress than expected this year doesn’t fundamentally change that.
