Smith doesn't jump off the table in that regard at all. At some point his actual play is going to matter more than his measurables.
And I say this as a guy who also thinks Houston should hold on to him unless he's needed in a deal for a real difference maker. But they can't pay everyone and probably not even just he and Eason. So while I might not do it, there is absolutely logic in moving one of them before the deadline where Smith's value is going to be a great deal less.
Jokic is not an ideal archetype...like...at all.
Hey scouting department, go find me a chubby seven footer who specializes in offense, and is highly exploitable defensively...that's not a combination of words anyone is saying.
Now don't get me wrong, he is far and away the best player in the NBA and its absurd his level of production, but opposing guards are eating him up, and its would be hard to play a player like that if they didn't have his level of talent.
And in regard to Jabari's play, it is already justifying his future contract....guy is just a winning basketball player, and the Rockets have massively over performed vs expectations. Is he a max player, no certainly not, but he slots quite nicely into somewhere between MLE and a non rookie max. His measurables, age, and archetype are all just bonuses.
