I'm gonna break down the rookies as I see them.
Josh Conerly Jr Oregon OT :
6'5 315. Huge person! Solid. Athlete. Some people wanna move him inaode but I'm not sure he needs to be, I hate the move in in side who every media guy puts never to almost every OT who isn't in the top 10 like he can play multiple positions but he's go start stuff in him. He's only 21 and he looks like he can add size and grow into his frame. I have a habit of falling in love with 6'8 lineman but this kid is a dog and he's mean. He was mocked around 20 something and there was a big run on ol.
Trey Amos Old Miss CB :
6'1 200 ish 4.4 a true cover out side cover with good speed and good hands. Will allow Mike to move inside where he belongs. This kid of mocked in the 40s so good value pick this kid can track the QB well and had good IQ. Smart strong violent player.
I don't like his age but it's the NFL that matters less when most players stay at least 3-5 + years
Jaylin lane VT WR :
5-10 200 ish runs a 4.3. I don't like that he's 5-10 but! It was pointed out to me that he's almost 200 lb and bulky and strong and very fast. We needed that. I'm not a fan of short WR but they do have a place when they have true speed and the frame to hold up. Small guys get hurt it's just physics. But he's got bulk and speed and I think he'll be ok he's a foot ball player and man he's got some potential to be a solid route runner, solid hands too.
Kain Medrano UCLA LB :
I don't like that he's 24, but this kid is a freak. All his drills were fantastic. He makes up for some mistakes with blind and nasty athletic talent. If he can be polished he's got every physical tool to be a premium LB.
Jacory Croskey-Merritt Arizona RB :
5-11 206 runs a 4.4. I'm torn. I loved so many RBs in this draft big powerful guys who can catch and do it all. Goddens, Allen, mafa, 7 more guys. This guy wasn't on my radar and I had to do some research. 4 years 1100 ish yards and ,13 touch downs. 1 year at Arizona 1100 ish yards and 17 TD. One game last year before the ineligibled him 106 yards and aTD he improved and got better years after year. He's hard to hit, he's slippery, fast has solid burst he's not gonna run through any walls but he's going to avoid contact and pick up yards he can take a hit if he has to he's durable and has size but his big skull is extending the play with his vision and skill and not just talking hits. That screams to me as longevity and I like that in RB and at 24 I'm not thrilled but he's a solid dude and should make the team.
UDFA
Timothy McKay nc state G
6'4 315. He's started at both spots over the year but he's older he red shirted in 2019 so not great. Small school big talent I think as much as I hate when people say this he has potential to be a really solid guard. Probably back up in his future but as we don't have a ton of draft capital next year and as we get ready to loose Nick potentially he might be a good prospect to fill in if he can be polished up.
Ricky Barber UCF DT / Edge
I've seen him listed 6'2 269 - 6'3 290. He's a big boy with good skills. His sack numbers early on were really promising. But they fell off and I'm not sure why injuries and transfers. Potentially a solid DT and maybe a big boy edge rushers at times.
Car'lin Vigers Louisiana Monroe CB
4.4 40 6'2 200. Big corner with some speed can survive a giant NFL WR. His tackle numbers are average and his hands and ball skills need work. He's older like most of the UDFA SO I DONT LIKE THAT. But he's got some aggression.
Fentrell Cypress II Florida state. CB
4.4 6'0 182 a bit slight but he has the same profile as vigers not much to add here.
Robert McDaniel Jackson state S
6'2 207 runs a 4.5 is a true strong box saftey but can survive in coverage when needed. In a wild where teams tuna. Lot of 2 high safetys Dan really love him some true box safetys and older school safetys that don't get drafted high have a place in Dan's system! Solid Blitzer. He's 24 but is a late adapter to football and his best numbera improved every year. Diamond in the rough!
Trey Rucker OSU S
6'0 210 an odd duck, more of a free cover safety but has the size of a strong safety. Not really used that way and doesn't have talent as a Blitzer but he can sure get tackle production and his technique is clean. He's slow though 4.6 not slow for a safety but if he's gonna find a home and survive in coverage that's a tough ask. He's too small to convert even if he's hefty and thick .
Jacoby Jones UCF WR
6'3 230 and he runs 4.5 flat. His last two years have been nothing burgers but his freshman year he totaled 700 plus yards and 6 yds that's a solid base of work and he's had some injuries but he has potential and we need some size. Last year he only played. The 3 games he had before injury took him out in 23 were solid the 6 games he played last year, 2 werw warm ups the last 4 we re solid outings with 300 ish yards and 2 TDs. He's got plenty of potential and imo we as much youth added to the wr pool as possible!
Collin Schlee, Virginia Tech QB
Camp body, really never had a good year. Maybe a TE conver or a favor to an agent.
Gabe Taylor Rice S
5-10 190 and runs a 4.3. he's the oddest duck of them all. Doesn't have the size to be a true strong safety but has a talent for strong safety things. He's a solid blitz option and is solid against the run. Is a dog and isn't afraid of going for the QB. Has real cover talent and can more than survive in coverage even if undersized. Hes got some ball hock in him and his INT and tackle numbers are solid. Maybe a convert to CB is in order. He doesn't have his brothers size but **** the kid might be a solid diamond in the rough small school guy
