Mikal for JJJ would be absolutely perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is no way Memphis would do a simple swap.

I think with the minutes distribution and everything the writing is really on the wall. Mitch is probably the most likely player to be traded this offseason. Don't know what he can fetch but I don't see Leon turning around and trading Bridges or KAT this offseason....

I would agree with you but there's no way that Memphis should be dropping that crazy extension he is about to get. I think Memphis will trade him just so they aren't obligated to give him that max contract.

That would be stunning. I mean if we could get JJ for Bridges then we could definitely win a title, no doubt about it. But I think Memphis will give him that extension and then worry about trading him later. And they would really need to get back a Center or PF if they decided to trade him, not a SG really.

It says he would only be eligible for that extension had he won the DPOY again---which he didn't. He is currently eligible for 4years/150mill. which is a pretty fair deal for what he brings. Memphis is going to extend him and I don't think there is any chance they'd trade him.

Oh, I don't think it will just take Mikal to get JJJ. But I do think Memphis might trade JJJ because they do not want to be beholden on a 60m per year contract.

Yeah JJJ is unrealistic and I don’t think they move Mikal. Maybe later near the deadline, but they need to get back as close to equal value as they sent out because the goal is to take advantage of the cap space Brunson saved them taking that guaranteed deal.

Also Mitch contract is actually good in some ways and bad in others. Right now he makes the 114th largest contract in the NBA. Next year due to it decreasing he makes around 150 most in the NBA. Not a lot of good value in that range outside of rookies who if they are good enough to play I doubt a team is looking to trade them for the honor of paying Mitch on his next contract.

I say all that to say this the Tax Payer MLE, and a S&T deal based around precious and one of our rookies going out in a parallel deal might be the best option this team has to get better. I could MAYBE see them moving McBride for a draft pick or a young player this year. He’s a fan favorite but he’s not getting minutes, and his contract is the most movable out of basically every contract we have.

If the Knicks were to put McBride and Mitch on the market, I think teams would have to consider it and offer something good. Idk I am spitballing.

No chance. The Grizzlies offered 4 1sts and 1 pick swap for Bridges at the deadline last season. Before that, they offered 5 1sts and 3 seconds for KD before he got shipped to Phoenix.

This series sweep likely makes them come back around for another wing forward, they aren’t swapping their second best player for Mikal.

I've seen enough. Bring Giannis to New York and ship out OG and Robinson to Milwaukee. Trade Brunson to Orlando for Isaac and picks. Sign Trent Jr and Schroder in the summer.

My dream trade would be to somehow get Herb Jones from the Pelicans for Mitch and McBride. Yvissi is still young so he and Mitch can share center minutes. Mcbrides a good contract and they could then turn around and trade CJ who ironically enough might cost them Yvissi to move.

This offseason feels like Bridges and a pick for JJJ.

The salaries almost match perfectly and JJJ is CAA.

DiVencenzo has been kinda a bust with Minny and wants to come back to us badly. Mitchell Robinson (12.9) and McBride(4.3) goes to Minny and we get Divo (12M) and Rob Dillingham (6.6M).

Minutes/Rotation
KAT (20), JJJ (20), Huk(8)
OG (22), JJJ (13), KAT(13)
Hart (30), OG (12), Wright (6)
Divo(30), Hart(5), Wright(13)
Brunson(35), Wright (13)

Starting lineup

JJJ
KAT
OG
Hart/Divo
Brunson

For the summer, I wish we could add a bouncy rim-protector, someone like Claxton. How do we get that player without touching any of the core? His salary next season is 25 million (screams Bridges, I know) and they have Clowney anyway. To me, 25 million means Mitch, Deuce and who we can sign with our MLE 8-)

Not bouncy but a great target would be Poeltl at 20 million. Also a Mitch, Deuce, Kolek, Dadiet type of package. But do they even want Deuce?

Other than that, I’d love a Gafford for Mitch and Deuce trade. Dallas are very deep up front and with Irving out, maybe they’d stuff the hole by committee. Deuce does defend and shoot, so there’s that.

But I’ve gotta say I’ve felt better about proposals like that before, Kessler and Sexton around the last deadline for example. Imagine we had had them both on our roster yesterday. Fire.

I think if we can offer them salary relief in the form of Deuce that could go a long way.

We seem to still have good relations with their FO. We are also built similarly.

I think the pelicans are a potential trade partner for Mitch only because the 2026 summer is the big Thunder summer and they legit might want to chase one of those Thunder players with a Max. Both of the Jaylen Williams and Holmgren are RFA and Hartenstein is an expensive team options. If I was NO I would get an expiring for Herb Jones that could be traded for Mitch and worse case scenario throw a max deal at Jaylen Williams or Holmgren, either one of them would fit great with their core and could be the A1 star they need. Once Olynk, McCollum, and Mitch comes off they would be in a great spot to throw a legit max at a player.

So the Knicks should hit them up now, especially with Herb Jones coming off of an injury. We could give them one of Dadiet or Kolek too.

We could trade cash considerations for a mid-round SRP

KAT + Bridges for Giannis + Portis whereby KAT goes to NOP or ATL and then Bridges gets sent to HOU or MEM so MIL gets young players and picks back.

Would you do it?

Return to New York Knicks
