Re: 2025 Regular/Offseason Season Thread Vol. 10
Last thing I'll say about the offense is that these guys have to prove their ability to hit shots on a consistent basis throughout the entire 48 minutes. If that 3 point shot is open, we need the rest of the guys hitting it at 40% or above clip, consistently. And hit those shots back to back, for as long as they leave them open. Yes, that's a tall ask. But that's what it's going to take to get them to change their defense or even stay in it but at least move it.
The Cavs are not going to care if Bam hits an open corner 3 and then refuses/hesitates to take the next three of those wide open looks that the offense generates just cause when he takes the 5th he hits that one too. He's then at 40% (if he eventually takes those after hesitating and letting the defense recover), but they won't care, and nothing will change about the way they're guarding because it was at the expense of a flowing offense. And they'll have been running roughshod on the opposite end on the turnover or rushed/bad miss created by refusing to take the open 3 those three times. Bam is an example, but it's been happening with Wiggins and even Jovic too. As Hallstar said, Highsmith has been the only one willing to pull the trigger without hesitation.
At this point I don't even care if they don't shoot the three, at least when it's swung to you quickly attack the rim and get them off balance. That will eventually be rewarded with calls. For Bam especially who the refs actually like.

Releasing Duncan Robinson next year can give us close to 19.3 million in cap space opening up full access to the non tax player MLE of 13 million. Will have plenty to match Mitchell’s reasonable figure and sign a few more value free agents.

Good news. Moving forward we have to treat shooters like running backs, unless you have the creme de la creme, do not sign to big money just keep cycling through cheap vets and minimum deals.

Throwing in the towel. Never forget, I spent $5k on tickets to the finals a couple years ago and all Micky gave us were lower quality wash rags than this

He was racking in that extra revenue best he could.

Letting Duncan go will definitely allow us to do a little value shopping next year to help round out the roster. We’ve kinda been hamstrung bad the last few years in this aspect due the tax. Can maybe search out some lotto tickets now

His replacement is already on the roster, it’s a shame we went from starting him to him not playing at all now lol. Burks is lights out for $18m less

Think we need to go in another direction over Alec Burks behind Herro. Maybe take a swing at Bruce Brown on a super cheap 1 yr deal. Middleton might not also be a bad pickup on the minimum either. Point is there’s going to be some low risk value players out there trying to build some value going into 2026. We will have some money to take advantage.

Re: 2025 Regular/Offseason Season Thread Vol. 10
Last thread someone posted "The difference between the IQ and Leadership on the court from Butler, Lowry and Tucker compared to Bam, Herro and Wiggins."
Is it all about IQ?
What about the fact that that Butler, Lowry and Tucker were playing with Bam, Herro, Strus, and Martin. Not too mention you still had Haslem on the bench. Bam and Herro are playing with Wiggins, Ware, Mitchell, Rozier, and the rest. The roster was much deeper back then.
As for either Bam or Herro being the guy... it doesn't really matter who the guy is if the rest of the roster is bad. Remember 2008 and 2009? Heat had at worst the third best player in the league and got as far in the playoffs as this years team will. If you somehow add Jokic, SGA, Luka, or Giannis and there would be different results.

We can trade for KD and still have the means to sign a bunch of these cheap vets. Trading for KD doesn’t even touch our flexibility once we let Duncan go.

Re: 2025 Regular/Offseason Season Thread Vol. 10
I said it in the other thread, the only time the Heat were able to defend the Cavs is when Bam/Ware were on the floor.
As much as others may disagree, but Ware has been making their defensive schemes much easier all season, yeah he sometimes gives up easy baskets but his impact looking at numbers has always been positive.
I don't get why Spo isn't just playing him more minutes, specifically with Bam so Bam can cover for some of his mistakes.
He also gives them vertical spacing they otherwise don't have on the other end.

I’m not against loading him up on minutes and seeing what happens. He’s been bad but his minutes with Bam have been impactful while it may or may not directly correlate to him. I’m not sure why we’re starting guys we don’t plan on giving the bulk of the reps to anyways to be honest
