Cool off KD.

I don't think they have enough for Giannis -- the Nets would have enough especially if they get Flagg

I think the Heat would still be in on Durant
Houston - if they lose tonight and game 5 -- big time in on Durant

I just hope Myers takes the job....

Lakers. KD.
What do you think about trading KD to the Lakers for...

2031 unprotected FRP.
Rights to swap 2026, 2028 and 2030 FRPs.
2nd in 2025 (#55).

Austin Reaves ($14M, $15M)
Rui Hachimura ($18M expiring)
Vincent ($11M expiring)
Knecht ($4M, rookie contract)
Milton ($3M, salary filler)

The idea would be to get draft capital AND a borderline All-Star player entering his prime like Reaves.

We get Hachimura who is an starter level player and a good backup PG in Vincent.

I would trade Knetch + pick + filler for a good defensive frontcourt player. Mark Williams, Wendell Carter Jr, Claxton...

Not in love with the idea but it could make sense if we get lowball offers from others teams and KD wants badly to go to LA. I hope not.

Fixed ( red) I like Austin Reeves as a potential centerpiece along with Dalton Knecht and Hachimura for value. We don't have our 26' 1st to swap as that was idiotically given away to Charlotte in the Nurkic trade.

I say idiotic because now he's an 20 million expiring (almost) that we could have had while keeping that 1st and utilizing his expiring in a trade. Just another example of negligently giving away value to dump a player we didn't really need to trade, but could have just sat or sent home instead.

So the swaps are ok ( do we even have access to those pick years though)?? I thought they were swapped out or something? but ultimately something that I'm not sure we'd even end up using as our picks will likely be of greater value.

I do like the idea of getting Reeves and Knecht. But would probably keep Knecht and instead send Allen to Charlotte for Mark Williams and 33rd and 34th picks in this 25' draft (via CHO and NOP).

I'd keep Knecht because he's younger, on a cost controlled rookie scale contract, and could grow with our core. Also moving Allen's 16 million would help our cap situation much better. I'm not sure if I'd choose to keep Hachimura or trade him elsewhere, or just let him expire.

But the players package is intruiging. Even though I'd abhore doing anything to help the flakers and Lebron and Doncic get better! Especially after the league helped gift them Doncic for almost nothing!

I'm sure this has already been confirmed and is being discussed, but I'd think the Bu is will have to now fall under 1 of 2 categories. Either desperate to find replacement talent to try to convince Giannis to stay, or they'll concede him leaving and opt to rebuild?

Which of those two situations could be better for us in some capacity?

They probably don't hold the cards. They are limited in what they can do and I think Giannis has probably given his all to Milwaukee. It's more likely Giannis will ask for a trade out no matter what the Bucks try to do. They already made their big gamble moving on from Jrue/Mids for Dame/Kuz, they are limited in resources (cap space/picks) to improve and it's now (probably) 3 straight 1st round exits.

This whole time I thought Bartelstein was the POBO (he's apparently CEO) and JJ was only the GM. Apparently JJ was promoted after 21-22 to dual roles.

Nevertheless, I think it makes sense to silo Bartlestein to non-basketball related decisions and demote JJ to GM only so he can focus solely on that while bringing in an experienced POBO as the key decision maker under Ishbia (preferably above Ish but one can only dream)

Blasphemous but I already enjoy watching the Spurs with Wemby and CP3. Wemby and KD on the same team would be even more enjoyable to watch

Agreed! Only 2nd in overall blasphemy to the Lakers! But honestly at this point given the reality of our immediate and long term future, without any cap space, flexibility and/ or picks and young players,

I'm now pretty much at the point wherein I feel as long as we get a solid package to help us start getting back on track, I really don't care much where KD ends up!

Spurs getting in the talks would put more pressure on HOU though, so that is a good thing. The Giannis sitiuaiton is gonna make things wild, I will be slightly surprised if he is still on MIL come Oct personally.

I never cared. He could go to the Lakers for all I care as long as they are getting us the best package. I knew he would either retire here or he'll move on and the only thing we should be focused on is the return. I've never had an emotional attachment to KD quite frankly as I've also seen him as a bit of a mercenary so I never developed an attachment to him.

The more buyers for Durant the better

On the PHNX_Suns youtube today they talked about if Beal would take a buyout down to $80m - the Suns would than have a $16m cap hit for 5 years which would get them well under apron levels as they would save $37m of cap space this year and next year but the final three years would add

My thought - I just am not sure Beal even has a market at $15m per year

My big concern with being so far under the cap - Ishbia spending to just spend. Kind of like what Sarver did when Kerr was not brought back

I can just see Mat "Oh boy, we have cap space... what average player can we overpay for!!!"

Not thinking about age or longevity, who would be a better fit next to Wemby? Giannis or KD? I would probably think KD right?

KD finishing the rest of his career with the Spurs would be a beautiful thing to see if it happens. He played in Austin in college which is not far from San Antonio.

Return to Phoenix Suns
