Steve Nash Hired By Amazon, Not Looking For Return To Coaching

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Apr 29, 2025 5:50 pm

Steve Nash has signed on to join Amazon Prime's NBA broadcast team for the 25-26 season, marking the network's first year of coverage under its new 11-year, $20 billion rights deal with the league.

Nash will work across both studio and game coverage beginning in October, joining a team that already includes studio host Taylor Rooks and analysts Dirk Nowitzki and Blake Griffin, who were announced as the network's first studio personalities in January.

This represents Nash's entry into traditional NBA broadcasting after recently becoming more visible in the basketball media landscape as co-host of LeBron James' "Mind the Game" podcast. Nash replaced JJ Redick on the show after Redick was hired as head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers last June.

According to league sources who spoke with The Stein Line, Nash is not using broadcasting as a pathway back to coaching. Despite being mentioned as a potential candidate for the Phoenix Suns' coaching vacancy and his strong ties to the organization as a former player and Phoenix resident, the 51-year-old reportedly has no plans to pursue that position.

The Amazon role marks Nash's second major media position, but his first in basketball. He previously served as part of Turner Sports' Champions League soccer coverage for two seasons before his unexpected hiring as Brooklyn Nets coach entering the 20-21 season.

Nash's coaching tenure with the Nets lasted just over two seasons, ending in November 2022, after which he largely stepped away from the NBA spotlight until his recent podcast partnership with James.

I wonder if Amazon will allow him on camera with his usual $8 haircut!

That's the thing. It's really a $200 haircut, MADE to look like an $8 haircut. There-in lies the subtle beauty!

Hopefully Steve will ring my doorbell instead of just throwing the package over my fence.

Nash a duel threat - he might deliver a sweet pass softly at the door or he might kick your package cause he was a soccer guy too

It's not even close! Dirk, Blake, and Nash are all super intelligent and high-IQ. They value professionalism and respect, stay up-to-date with current trends, players, and the state of the game. Shaq and Barkley are complete buffoons and in the case of Shaq a downright r*etard. They have literally zero knowledge of today's game, even though it's their job for which they are paid tens of millions to do. Their "jokes" are 99% of the time disrespectful, offensive, full of hate and misogyny.

Do you need a "calming corner?"

I just think the Amazon crew is going to be amazing - IF their personalities gel- Blake is amazing and charismatic and funny and self deprecating in long form conversation- I haven’t heard Dirk really talk for extended periods but when he talks it’s credible and Nash is a 2 time mvp with tons of insight as a coach and player- I think TNT benefits from having a wing, guard and big man to give all 3 major positions opinions
