Re: Transfer Thread 24/25
I think Chelsea tried to pay him less than his current salary because of their wage structure. Not sure if United would fork over 75m plus 15m in salaries either with the way they've been cost cutting.
Would love to see him at Arsenal, man deserves Champions League football.

Nico Williams apparently asked to become the best payed player at the club, but Arsenal will not do that

He wants to be shown a commitment by a club of vintage wages that would reflect the quality of an elite footballer. Whether he's justified or not isn't my space to speak.
I would have thought he was going to Saudi to chase the cash, but him going to Turkey to me signals that he feels there's unfinished business in Europe.
I don't think Chelsea can't afford his wages. I feel like it's United or maybe Arsenal for him.

@Baseline FSG ain't paying this
the Edward's data striker is Mario Retegui (and he'll outscore 99% of the 9s that move this upcoming summer)

If Frankfurt hold firm on this amount, I agree, FSG walks away. I don't believe this valuation, though, especially since Frankfurt sold Marmoush for less.

It will be interesting how Chelsea manage their summer. Apparently want to rid themselves of a lot of the squad, but surely a lot of them leave at a loss from what their buy price was. Getting wages off books at a minimum will help
Very few players purchased by Chelsea over last 2-3 seasons have increased their value (Palmer excluded)

I think the outcry over our financial situation is overstated considering we spent a casual €70m for a 17 year old winger and midfield cover on a casual day in the middle of March out of literal thin air.
We have cash but FFP navigation reigns supreme than anything which is the real kicker in terms of not only spending power but squad building opportunities.
We are going to have an active summer, a lot of the deadweight that we need or want to sell got priority loans in January as a summer showcase.
Disasi -> Villa
Chukwuemeka -> Dortmund
Veiga -> Juventus
Felix -> Milan
On top of that Kepa is on loan at Bournemouth, a club allegedly keen on making that deal permanent.
And then there's another crop that will likely need to find new homes: Chilwell, Chalobah, Sterling, Nkunku, Sanchez, Fofana, Broja.
Could see these players getting shipped out. I don't think we need to have a very active summer. Just two players: a CB is a necessity and a striker. We have a squad that by all underlying metrics is one of the very best in the PL, we're just losing the marginal battles. Controlling possession and dominating xG can only take you so far when you don't have a presence up top that can turn losses in the draws and draws into wins / or on the contrary a keeper that isn't a mistake factory unnerving a young backline with braindead distribution.
The fact that we go into fixtures every week with Chalobah and Tosin at the back is shameful. In goal I'd give Jorgensen and Petrovic the opportunity to fight for that #1 spot until Mikey Penders (our baby Courtois) is ready.

It will be interesting to see how much Villa are willing to pay for Disasi. Chelsea already forced us into an overpay for the loan, an we had to as we were desperate for a CB, but cannot see us paying much in a transfer for him.

Does anyone know if French journalist Santi Aouna is legit? He's reporting Bayern has an agreement with Wirtz.

That journalist is not someone I'm familiar with, but then again, Wirtz is not an english player nor in the Premier League.
Has Fabrizio Romano said anything on the matter?

He's reputable.
An actual journalist unlike Florian Plettenberg who's constantly regurgitating fanfiction.

Oh yeah, Pletti. Almost legendary incompetence. Is wrong 99 times and right once and is then considered a great transfer expert because of that one time.

City are signing Wirtz and Reijnders lol
Are people deeping how ridiculous this is? Marmoush looks really good too, they're absolutely winning the prem again next season and the rest of this incompetent league is sitting back watching it materialise.

A couple of things, stormi.
One, this continues to show how overrated Pep is as manager. He simply isn't the same without having overwhelming talent compared to others.
Two, how ridiculous does that January transfer window look now. According to the BBC and ESPN, Manchester City spent around £180 million, including £50 million on Nico Gonzalez. He'll now revert to being a substitute. Wirtz will be over £100 million, and Reinjders £50 million or more.
Note I still feel Wirtz ends up at Bayern Munich. Though, it's been amusing seeing Liverpool's name amongst the others.

Regarding Dean Huijsen, once Real Madrid got involved, it was over for both of our clubs. As to your CB list, I have read of Liverpool's interest in Tomás Araújo.
Why have you removed Delap from your striker list? In an April post, you had him as your No. 1 CF.

Hurts seeing Huijsen go. I think we had him in the bag if Madrid didn't come in for him.
Oh well, things move quickly in football. Nobody knew who he was like two years ago, a new 'can't miss' CB prospect will emerge like they always do and market fiends will convince you that it's either him or nobody else.
Reminds me of Caicedo, and then Baleba appearing the next year.
Kind of getting less excited by Delap the more of his footage I consume, I think at the moment I prefer Ekitike or Samu if we'd go the route of paying his RC.

Welcome to the club. I knew you'd get there eventually.
I need you to stay away from Ekitike, please. Of course, if Wirtz to Liverpool does happen, as far-fetched as that sounds, then you can have a free run at the player.
