2. Improve availability by keeping only one injury prone player

That means Cole, JI, WCJ, and Harris got to go.

Bonus is replacing them with shooting/playmaking.

I love how you frame this. I'm sure other teams want to give us quality starters and difference makers for our injury prone players.

I think JI and WCJ have trade value, personally. Cole is an expiring and Harris can get outright cut and the team save his $7m. These aren’t toxic assets by any stretch I think. Just obvious starting points for a retool

Wepark did well with our contracts, we have zero toxic contract and have plenty trade assets, we ll do well this summer

I doubt we move both JI and WCJ. Likely keep one. Who ever has the most value on the trade market likely gets moved. I don’t see us moving both in the same offseason.

I think we ll keep both.

I cant see much change incoming with our frontcourt

We just need Suggs back and a good 2 way Guard like Sexton to join this team

I get that KCP did not live up to expectations, but he really wasn't that bad. He didn't do what us as fans were looking for(shoot consistently), everything else was in line. Now we are going to need some salary as matching if we make a move, and we clearly need to, KCP has to be one of the options...Personally i'd rather move first round picks, WCJ and Cole. Decline Harris option. I'd consider JI based on what teams might give up for him...he is more than salary filler.

I'd kind of like us get to a 9 man rotation.

Paolo
Wagner
Suggs
Guard that can create
Center
Moe
Black
KCP
TDS

I don't hate the idea of using three guards on the 2nd unit for periods of time, Black and KCP getting extended minutes with the one of the other guards.

I'd keep Houstan if this price is right. I am not sure how many options he's going to have.

You'd think the Magic are going to have a pretty good opportunity to sell. For the 2nd postseason in a row the Magic half court has been painful to watch. If i am a guard who can score and create open shots for others guy, Franz/Suggs/KCP/Black is who I would want to be playing next to. This has to look like a great scenario.

Move #1...glomming onto a bigger deal and saving $5m in salary...
MEM sends: Ja Morant, Desmond Bane
MEM gets: Giannis, KCP, Pat Connaughton
Why: Giannis/JJJ is a tremendous combo. KCP is a poor man's Bane, but fills the tough vet 3&D role, adequately.

MIL sends: Giannis, Portis (SnT $15m x 3), Connaughton
MIL gets: Ja Morant, Desmond Bane
Why: Are they seriously going to do better than that? Instant rebuild, even with Dame's big contract - maybe he retires.

ORL sends: KCP
ORL gets: Bobby Portis (SnT $15m x 3 years)
Why: Simply a rebalance that also saves ORL $7m+ in cap space each year.

Move #2...getting the Lead Guard we lack...
ORL sends: Goga Bitadze, Cole Anthony, Jonathan Isaac
ORL gets: Anfernee Simons, Vasilije Micic
Why: Simons is the scoring guard/secondary playmaker, Micic is a crafty passing vet PURE PG for second unit and when offense gets stuck in mud

PHX sends: Grayson Allen, Vasilije Micic
PHX gets: Goga Bitadze, Robert Williams III
Why: Solidifies their big, physical frontcourt depth, unloads Micic's $8m. Micic for Goga will have to be separate trade as PHX can't aggregate.

POR sends: Anfernee Simons, Robert Williams III
POR gets: Cole Anthony (expiring/TO), Jonathan Isaac, Grayson Allen, #16
Why: POR has great depth at C (too much) and Simons isn't in future plans...Allen is a better complement with Scoot & Sharpe. Isaac sharpens their D.

Draft: ORL trades WCJ, Jett Howard, ORL 26 frp (Top 5) & #25 to BRK for #6, select Khaman Maluach at #6

Maluach (as soon as he's ready), Moe, Portis
Paolo, Portis, TdS
Franz, TdS, Caleb
Suggs, AB, Gary (decline TO and re-up at $3.5m x 2yr + 1TO)
Simons, Micic, CoJo

We are not gonna trade a good defender for a poor defender, the goal is to stay a top 5 defensive team

So i cant see us moving away from KCP and WCJ

The one who s gonna move is COLE

Cole + FRP for a guard
Suggs, AB, Tyus, Jase
Bane, AB, TDS , Jett

I wish but Cole has negative value and idk what impact guard we will get with the 16th pick. KCP needs to be included in any deal. He should not be starting for us next year. At best keep him back backup SG but rather give those minutes to AB. KCP experiment failed and we need to move on from it.

He has a cheap contract and 1 yr remaining, so it s not a bad contract

Sexton has 1 yr left on his contract so he wont net more than 1 FRP, so Cole + FRP should be enough to land him

Sounds great...love to see that. Who is that fantastic defender-you keep saying Sexton as if he's any different than Simons.

if teams valued cole and a 1st he would've been traded at the deadline. Cole has neutral value, you can find 3-4 Cole's in this years draft
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.

I'm curious about a KCP for Cam Johnson swap. What would it take?

I’m open to the idea but it doesn’t help with the PG situation. We’ll still lack a guard that can get their shot off whenever needed.

Use the MLE on a PG, several options available. Tyus and DeAngelo for example.

Good backup options.... who is going to start next to Suggs next season? And do not dare say KCP or AB.

I’ve never been supportive of DLo…but his situation might make him a steal and a great fit…certainly no one’s giving him more than MLE, right?

Could he be part of a bigger SnT? Or just signed if we manage MLE? Is he good ? (His numbers generally are, but his rep generally isn’t)

ORL sends: ORL 26 frp (Top 5), ORL 30 frp (Top 8), KCP, Goga, Jett. (BRK already has 4 frps this year)
BRK sends: Cam Johnson, DeAngelo Russell (SnT 3 yrs @ $14m per), #27

Then, see if you can do with #27 & Isaac for Portis (decline PO, SnT 3 yrs @ $14m per)…MIL might well be in tear down

Decline TOs on Caleb (sorry, but we’re stacked), Gary, Moe (re-up for 3 yrs @$8m per)

ORL drafts #25, Walter Clayton and trades #16 for a pick in 26

WCJ, Moe, Portis
Paolo, Portis, Cam
Franz, Cam, TdS
Suggs, AB, Cam
DLo, CoJo, Clayton

Is there any ANY way to get Myles Turner? No- but He’s going to get paid and Nembhard’s extension landing too- IND may have to shed some talent.

I’ve always liked Nesmith…he’s become a good defender too…Mathurin could be the odd man out- he can be an explosive scorer off the bench (Jalen Green-lite)

TJ McConnell is a $9m backup PG…he’d start in ORL, his 3pt shooting % dropped off a cliff but he was over 40% the previous 2 seasons…Pritchard 2.0.?

Thinking more about Cam Johnson and I don't think we are the right partner for Brooklyn.

Figuring out the KCP market is tricky.

Cam Johnson is way better than Sexton or Simons. I'm more interested in adding good players.

Yet somehow, Indiana added an all-star by trading a VERY similar player on a VERY similar contract... within a few months of signing said similar player. Our GM is just sleepwalking.
