The legend of a Doc Rivers coached team continues.

Multiple opportunities to get fouled and hit your FTs in that final in-bounds and elected to make panac!! passes instead resulting in GTJ being GTJ.

They’re at their ceiling right now. They remind me of the Demar/Lowry Raptors but more talented.

They are like 2015ish Raps. Raps were finishing 3rd/4th...then took the next step organically from within to push to 2nd, 3rd, and 1st place finishes.

But like Tor, they will have to make multiple big moves to move to actual contender status.

Like TOR...it's mainly getting that SUPERSTAR player that can takeover when you need them to, that will be by far the biggest thing for the Pacers.

Yet we never even hear of them in the discussion for even attempting to trade for one. I get that no superstar is gonna wanna go there but that's the risk they're gonna have to make if they ever wanna seriously contend. Hate or love Masai, we're ALWAYS in the discussion, the Pacers lack the full commitment so far.

Their ownership is content with being a competitive team. They don’t want to enter the 2nd apron.

It’s shame because they clearly have the pieces to support a superstar if they ever get one.

If I’m Giannis, I request a trade there.

I'd still favor OKC (obv) or SAS but yeah ownership needs to step tf up, bite the bullet to at least try.

Although they're obviously not as big as TOR, I'm sure a ring for them would mean just as much.

People seem to want to downplay the Pacers and that level of team, but it looks pretty good to me. Minimum of 3 series wins in the last two seasons, and they will be competitive against anyone.

They can continue building around the edges or try to add/upgrade a star/superstar.

In the meantime, their fans get to watch a fun team that can beat anyone in a game or series, even if they are not expected to do so.

They'll probably lose to Cleveland, but 1) I wouldn't be surprised if the series is fairly close and 2) Cleveland managed to get the 1 seed without a guy considered to be a "superstar."

So much of this stuff is done in hindsight. A few years ago SGA was still waiting to make his first ASG, now he's the likely MVP on the title favourites. Tatum wasn't a "best guy on a championship team" level guy until he was.

Pacers are tough when they have Nembhard and Naismith healthy. Stabilizing defenders and role players. I kind of see Walters and Ochai as similar players someday. We could be like a poor man’s version of them next season and hopefully make bigger strides someday.
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars

Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

Kinda crazy that this series would of been 3-2 Pistons if the refs gave them the call last game.

The league has to implement something to prevent the pistons from fouling there.

A team should have the option of either shooting 2 or side out when a shooting foul is committed. Noone would ever chose the side out except for these rare circumstances.

Such a horrible way to end a game.

In addition....the out of bounds play should take place at the team's choosing. Such a simple addition to the rule book. The best thing about it....you will almost never use it because it simply prevents the team that has the 3 point lead from fouling on purpose.

He’s more like a big part of how things run over there, compared to how his former team used him. NN made him be the scorer, which isn’t really his thing, and that just kind of highlighted his shortcomings instead of letting him thrive as that reliable outlet guy and secondary playmaker who can also score when needed.

I disagree with this. When the Pacers are at their best it’s because Siakam is the engine.

Now I’m not saying Siakam is a championship calibre number one option but he’s closer to that tier than we gave him credit for I think. He just keeps developing. Hard hard worker that guy. He truly knows how to manipulate the floor now. If he was a bit better at scoring through multiple defenders then he’d be top 10. And given that he continues to develop, maybe he gets there? Some of the plays he made during that ECF run were superstar plays.

Anyway, I’m pulling for him.

Nah, When Pacers are at their best its when Halliburton is scoring and assisting like he is supposed to (which is why they looked bad early on in the season). He is by far the most impactful offensive player on the team even though he is not averaging lot of points. He pushes the pace and maps the floor very well in terms of playmaking. Haliburton problem is that he is an awful defender.

Siakam has been great for them but some of his improvement can be traced to others creating more for him. His defense still leaves much to be impressed by but its better than it was last 2 season on the Raps. Siakam is playing closer to the way he did in 2019 RS with some self creation. A lot of his paint buckets are assisted now compared to last couple years as a Raptor, which has boosted his efficiency.

Its much more of an equal opportunity offense and he and hali both should have more usage.
