Re: PG - this is the opposite of fun
The biggest difference is Hart can't make volume threes in the playoffs as well, that is what allows the opposing team to park their center on him. If he was reluctant to shoot last year we would have lost in the first round, and the Sixers could have just defended him with Embiid.
Josh averaged 6 three attempts per game in the first round last year, he's down to 2.6 this year, he MADE more threes per game in that first round than he's taking this year.

randle could create for himself and others in a way the kat can't. did you ever think to yourself, we need to get randle the ball ? no, he just took it and did it himself. he had his faults but he could do that.
Fury said last years playoff team, which didn't have Randle on it.
Thank you for admitting yet again that you miss IHart, because it was his passing last year in addition to Donte in the playoffs. I knew you loved our proud brother from Germany.

Ihart was also a creator from the high post. Randle was a big time creator for us

I agree about the toughness and defense.
About the offense, Randle didn't play. So it's IHart, but IHart couldn't create on his own and his shot creating for others could only take us so far. The major difference is the offensive rebounding. Our offense wasn't great in the playoffs last year either, but it was carried by the offensive rebounding, which was historic and made it into a very good offense. Would that be sustainable this year? I don't know, but I don't think it was something we could depend on year to year.

man I call bullsh*t on this soft stuff, there is nothing soft in this series, guys are all just missing shots they generally make. This has been one of the more physical series' i can remember in recent memory and the Knicks aren't backing down. This soft world is thrown around way to loosely.
yeah, the soft take isn't applying for me in this series either. they look a lot gullier across the board in this series than what i was concerned about during the regular season.
KAT has his flaws, but being soft hasn't been one of them these past 5 games.

if you think of soft as defense/reboudning, than the pistons have clearly been the tougher team

Halftime adjustments matter and the opposing team always seems to do a better job than us. Losing the 3rd has been happening for years, thibs is accustomed to it.

i don't care if they fire thibs. i hope they do actually so we can move past the coaching "issue" and address the roster flaws which everyone will wake up to once we do. unfortunately leon has backed himself into a corner this past summer and making trades to improve the team won't be easy.

Can we talk about how awful deuce has been, I mean I know everyone wants to place
Blame on the coach, but how many wide open 3’s will Deuce keep missing. I mean brunson and KAT 9-30 and they are never going to win but deuce is shooing 26.9 % from the field and 25% from 3..just horrifically bad

I don't think they have been outrebounding or defending much better than the Knicks. I think last year's team just heavily outrebounded everyone.

There's a solution to that, it's to start the two bigs together, they are +11.31 (on the season) when they're on the floor together, the defensive rating gets worse but the offense explodes and negates that drop off.
Have Mitch defend Thompson the same way they do to Hart. This is something we haven't tried yet, and it's sitting right there. Mitch has guarded Ausar for a grand total of 11 seconds in the series.

We're gonna have to agree to disagree, mate
You can mitigate for lack of 1 vs 1 talent with well executed play calling. Obviously it can only overcome so much, but you can def squeeze every ounce of juice from the talent on the roster that way. I think we can agree that Thibs hasn't exactly done that.
Fully.
It seems like we have both a roster and a thibs problem.
I do get the worry that he is a coach that brings "intangibles". That he gets his players to play better than they're capable of but I tend to think there is prolly a cap on that. And that you need a coach who brings that and the ability to put his players in the best possible situation to succeed.
He also isn't at fault for not having a bench. Ours sucks. Even if he should have played em more throughout the year.
Anyways, wish we were talkin sht about Boston right now instead of the tired arguments and starphucking but the sun also rises.

It’s because the Knicks traded for players that these posters wanted for years but since they were wrong about those players (and the ones we got rid of) they’re just going to blame everything on Thibs. And look I get it, Thibs has his flaws and I want to get JVG as head coach, but acting like Thibs is holding us from being a championship contender is nuts.
Don't agree. There is no timeline where a team of KAT/OG/Mikal/Hart/JB shoots fewer 3's then Detroit. This team's offensive approach has been trash for months.

I think Mikal is just really really dumb as a basketball player
based on his immediate impact as an off ball mover last year you gotta conclude it isn't og
ehh i feel like OG had a bunch of cuts to dunks in his first game as a knick, and then he stopped doing it. almost like once he "learned" the offense, he was told not to cut.
I saw a stat a few days ago that showed OG has the most dunks of any players in the league that aren’t big men. He’s a really good cutter actually
What I don’t understand is why is Mikal setting a screen for OG then immediately cutting to the same spot he was going to?

I mean ihart was also averaging 3.5 APG in the playoffs, that’s very good for a C. Donte was also a significantly better player than Mikal.
When it comes down to toughness and defense, it just felt like last year’s team was way more hungrier and was ready to scrap with anyone, playing every possession like it was their last. It’s a completely different team. Even though Randle didn’t play, a lot of the team’s identity was also from him so even just his presence in the locker room and sidelines I’m sure had an impact. I mean we see what he’s doing in the playoffs now on the Timberwolves. That team is playing very scrappy, showing heart and a lot of it is due to him.
This is the first Thibs team we’ve had in years that’s looked very soft. The only thing that changed was the roster. So it’s hard for me to blame Thibs when this was never an issue with his teams until we made a major change in the roster. At least that’s how I look at it.

It’s like when lil bitches make subliminal records, if it ain’t directed directly at me, I don’t respect it

No it’s again I don’t think this roster is that good tbh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But it’s been 5years now and the same issues offensively and defensively!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We changed numerous players but the issues still persist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thibs has to go he’s not a playoff level/championship coach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Once he’s out Then we’ll get to changing up the roster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Other than that one game from Payne, any non starter sucks on offense
We def are in desperate need of a 6th man
Not sure if Hart would be willing to be a 6th man type next year .... But that might allow us to get another shooter in the off-season. Have him start, and let Hart run the bench squad and play the 4th with the starters
