Weren't you like among the group calling me out yesterday before the game for being like negative---at least between the lines?

What happened? After 86 games you needed game 87 to figure out that this team just ain't it?

No I don’t think this team is good but last year’s was a better brand — lower ceiling

But as it turns out our ceiling is fake I guess

I didn’t sing this year’s team’s praises but I don’t think last season’s roster, and especially not bc of Randle, had any better odds

They both have no chance at a title

KAT is a much better player than Randle and one “much” is generous by me

I think you bring Malone in. Of all the coaching candidates, he is the one with the coaching pedigree and a championship. He had Murray, who Brunson is better than and Jokic who is better than KAT. It balances out. And the rest of the roster is deeper than the nuggets. The offense ran with Jokic and Murray is what we should be running.

Thibs is an absolute garbage head coach who has relied and survived on the talent of his individual players for far too long.

KAT is the better player hands down but not by as much as you imply. Yes if you used KAT in the most efficient way than he may indeed be much much better but not in a freestyle offense without system. If you let KAT catch the ball and face up 6'8 wings, all his strengths are negated.

But the problem in your judgement is that you leave Donte completely out of the equation....like he was not even part of the trade. Is KAT better than Randle + DD (ignoring the pick for a moment)....that is definitely a very open discussion. Take last night's game for example...there is a world where a guy like DD comes off the bench or as a starting 2-guard knocks down 3-4 3pointers early and the game is a wire to wire victory....

The way KAT is being used at times---sometimes going minute after minute without touching the ball etc. he is not better for us than Randle and DD combined.

I wouldn't say complete garbage but he is clearly----I mean clearly not a top 10 head coach. You would have to be insane to put Thibs in the top 10.

Malone and Thibs are pal. No one he comes in to replace Thibs. I've always liked Malone himself, but from what I'm reading beyond the hit pieces is that he's Thibs 2.0.

From ending players’ career early from overusage to having no idea of a professional offensive scheme, the list goes on and on. I can name ten coaches right now in the league who are better than Thibs in no particular order

1. Mazulla
2. Udoka
3. Kerr
4. Kidd
5. Carlisle
6. Atkinson
7. Daigneault
8. Spo
9. Pop
10. Lue

And that doesn’t include the guys who were just fired in Malone bud and Jenkins, and upcoming coaches in Johnnie Bryant, cassell, and yes JVG on the bench for the clips.

Thibs is not in the top 10, and that’s why we struggle

Regardless if he is Thibs 2.0, ( which I don’t think he is, just typical media fodder to paint him in a light that makes him seem like a tough coach) his philosophy netted a ring, and we have more talent on this team than that biggest championship squad did. Malone actually coaches on the sidelines with play calling and plays drawn up.

DD gave us a lot. I still think he’s a backup. Randle has some positives but major holes. Get back to me after he signs his next contract.

The roster is flawed and the coach is an issue. We can try to fix both this offseason
Mavs
C: Horford | Goga | Paul Reed |
PF: Lauri Markkanen | Randle | Tucker
SF: Trey Murphy | Trent | Anderson | Simone

I think he's a great culture setter and foundational coach. Knicks needed him to start because they didn't know how to win. He helped them in that regard. But its also no shame to say the roster and our future has outgrown him.
This is the conclusion I'm coming to as well.

I think for the second time in his career, he's going to be undone by his inability to get the most out of KAT.

Just this season you have had multiple HOFers and even an ex knick player like Melo criticize him. His coaching may have been up to par 20-40 years ago but at this point in time it clearly isn't. You literally have an ex-player like Teague saying he does not coach any type of offense and just puts the ball in his best player's hand---it's like EXACTLY to a T what we are witnessing game in and game out and yet some defend him.

It's like some ex-players criticize his heavy use of certain players---stating that in today's day and age it is counterproductive due to the speed of the game. Yet Thibs has Hart, Bridges and OG leading the league in minutes and JB and KAT being at around 20. Like we are literally witnessing that Thibs is doing EXACTLY what those ex-players ciriticize him for.
We see no structured offense, no bench play, recurring theme of injuries. And yet people just choose to ignore it. Baffling.

You have literally a team like Clevleand sitting atop the conference and blowing their opposition away in the first round who were in the almost exact same predicament...and yet people choose to ignore it. Like literally you have 3 fanbases in Minny, Chicago and now NY complaining almost of the exact same stuff to a T in terms of criticism of Thibs and yet some want to ignore it.

Now I can only hope for Thibs defenders sake that we that want him out are right and you guys are wrong. Because essentially if Thibs is doing a solid/good coaching job and it is really mostly the roster that is the problem....then get used to this type of season for the next years because we'd need a miracle trade to significantly upgrade the roster. You won't see a big jump in talent on this team in the next 2-3 years. We have zero assets. You better hope we are right and a better coach can life this team up a level or two. Otherwise this is it...this is what you are gonna get until enough time has passed that Leon's disastrous Bridges' trade is somewhat offset.

Save the "we" vs "you guys" and "they just don't know ball" stuff. You're making a lot of personal assumptions in your posts and they aren't helpful and aren't adding to the discourse.

Keep your points about basketball and not about posters.

And that is absolutely a smack in the face of KAT, arguably the best shooting big ever. If you can’t figure out how to put one of the best shooting big men ever in a position to succeed, then what’s the difference if you or I coached the team vs. thibs

We don't run an offense bro.
It's a free for all out there with no structure outside of ISO Brunson. He still manages to get plenty of assists out of that mess every night. Most nights when his team can't get it done he takes over and wins games for us. That's the entire offense. The game tells you what to do.

Dude dropped 39/17 for us this season. Is that him pounding the air out of the ball? Stop it. Jalen does what he can with the n limited options he has. This team doesn't even run basic plays on any level.

 I swear some of the Thibs defenders watch games being blissfully stoned or so. Literally, take a look at the first 10 possessions....9 of them were iso one on one nonsense. This team does not run any offense...not any. People just don't know ball.

I think so too though Mikal may be even more of a blemish.

The convenient part about it is that the results should dictate what happens. I've said since the beginning of the year that it's ECF or bust. I don't think he makes it past a first round out or Celtics blowout. The tough call is if we make it a series vs. Boston but we still lose.

Just when I thought they couldn’t take the feel from me. They did, even if we win, I know we won’t go past round 2.

Yea, I think a Celtic blowout is inevitable. But either way, I'd still call it from this series alone. It's like Bickerstaff last year. He wasn't fired for Boston, he was fired for barely getting past Orlando.
