Would it be fair to assume the Rockets coaching staff is telling their players to do this when defending shooters?

Would it be fair to assume the Rockets coaching staff is telling their players to do this when defending shooters?

Post#1 » by Grumpy Heat Fan » Wed Apr 30, 2025 4:35 pm

Rockets players go out of their way to put their hand and lightly push on the midsection of a shooter, which is clearly a foul.

Would it be fair to assume the Rockets coaching staff is directing their players to do this?

And if it is discovered, should the Rockets organization be fined by the league office? The league does not need institutionalized stealth fouling as part of the game.

If so, it cost them in the last game, giving Butler 3 FTs at the end.

Don't see why it would be a fine, the refs should just call shooting fouls.

I like a physical game but when a guy is legit shooting contact needs to be whistled.

Yeah, no fines needed. Just make a highlight reel of this occurring and make it required viewing for all refs immediately before Rockets games so they're primed to blow the whistle early and often.

It's ridiculous how fans complain about Brooks "barely touching" Butler and therefore it shouldn't be a foul (or any of the other many situations where this happens). You use your hand to nudge a guy just a 1/2 inch while he's in the air (no way to use ground contact to counteract the force) and in the act of shooting, from the 3 point line distance, that can easily be the difference between making or missing the shot. Ask an archer or marksman how very lightly poking his arm while he's shooting will affect his shot.

Not a foul if the refs don't call it

We shouldn't fine them. It's up to the refs to call it. Rockets looking for advantages, that's what makes the game great, teams are still coming up with new strategies. Well See if this works. It's not different than golden state using the moving screen to become a dynasty. You test things out and if the refs allow it then you keep doing it

It is Houston's version of Golden State setting illegal screens on every play and having Draymond commit technical fouls on every play.

GSW has been called for many OF last couple of years. I don't see much anymore.

We need SGA to stop pushing off or flopping for fouls from the refs.

If Udoka wasn't a fake tough guy he would be having his team sack tap every single shooter on the closeout and dare them to call it

Yes. If they didn't want them doing it they'd have coached it out of them. They didn't. Therefore it is only reasonable to assume they approve which means they're teaching it. Nothing like that team wide is an accident.

Fine, no. Just call the foul til they stop.

No fines, but the refs should start calling it.

Why would players be fined for fouls that the refs missed?

At what point does the NBA step in to discipline the Rockets organization?
