Feldman:

Good news for Jordan Love
Green Bay drafted Texas speedster Matthew Golden in the first round. Golden can win one-on-ones and should be a good addition to the receiver room. I’m also very intrigued by late third-rounder Savion Williams from TCU. People often compared Missouri WR Luther Burden to Deebo Samuel, but NFL coaches think the 6-4, 222-pound Williams, who ran a lot of wildcat QB for TCU last year, is Deebo-like. I think Matt LaFleur will love what he brings to Green Bay.

“He’s a different player from (former TCU first-round WR) Quentin Johnston,” an NFL receivers coach said. “Quentin was more of a finesse player. This kid is a brute. He loves contact. He seeks contact. He’s like Cordarrelle Patterson. He’s so good with the ball in his hands. He’s had some drops, but I think his hands are good enough. Some of those drops are due to poor hand placement, which can be coached. When he learns to run routes, that run after the catch is gonna be crazy because he’s big and fast and good with the ball in his hands. So much upside.”

More I learn about Sorrell the more I like. Belton as well.

Maybe if his name was Denise instead of Dennis.

Older I get the less I even study/pay attention to the Day 2 and beyond guys. From a talent perspective Golden seems like a home run fit in MLF's system. Outside of that? I love the Sorrell pick as far as value goes. I don't know enough about any of these other dudes to really care to form an opinion. Seems like we're banking an awful lot on Jaire's health and the pass rushers currently on the roster outside of Rashan Gary becoming better, and that concerns me a bit.

Solid B cuz I'm giving the org the benefit of the doubt.

Interesting the Packers seem to be one of the more lowly ranked teams despite getting basically universal praise for the Golden pick

Lions and Vikes getting dragged worse than us is comforting I guess.

I think its a no-win deal for critics ratings, if you pick late in any round. You get dinged for not picking the BPA. At the same time you get dinged for not filling need. Also, at the same time, you get dinged for risking on potential over performance record.

I feel like the Pack got dinged for not taking a CB or pass rusher with an early pick. That and Belton is seen as a reach for round 2. The other picks are seen as wise, or foolish, depending on the particular critic.

I visited my parents this weekend, who have a place on the Fox a few blocks north of the Railroad Museum. They've been in this place for 20 years. I grew up in a different house in the other half of the Ashwaubenon school district, they moved a dozen years after I graduate HS. I used to trick-or-treat at James Lofton's house. I got perspective colored by driving past the stadium on the reg, by having my jogging route loop back towards home on the Lombardi side of the then-corrugated-sided stadium. At the risk of falling prey to sepia-toned memories, I carry some misgivings at how the landscape surrounding Lambeau has changed.

Now, I think the renovation and the Titletown District was a unqualified success (the campaign to ram it through referendum...look, we don't do politics here). I understand the impulse to turn everything within shouting distance of Lambeau into a revenue stream, but it hits different when it takes out houses that you remember going to for Friday night parties and, to put it in the original Segerese, working on the night moves. It's wild to see the modest ranches on oversized lots turned under for three-story gameday fortresses. It feels less like a town encircling the stadium and more like the stadium encroaching on the town. While it was charming when there was one fence with a yearly message, now there's a half-dozen. It gives me Gatlinburg vibes. I've come to see the Packers as much as a real estate concern as a football team.

But the draft. Now, this really showed the area with its best foot forward. My workaday experience is events-based and I can attest to how well it was run. It seems obvious enough, but it was great to have Lambeau open. If you're going to make the pilgrimage from afar, what a drag it would be to not have access. I'm sure there was a ton of security and police out, but they kept themselves unseen. I think back to the RNC in Milwaukee and the presence there was such that it choked out all signs of non-event activity. What good is putting your city on the stage if you remove all remnants of the city? Anywhoo, it reminded me of some of the Madison festivals and I heard it from a friend whoooooo heard it from a friend whoooooo (cue the 105.7 Rockin' Apple bumper music) it reminded them of Summerfest. There you go.

Here's a string of texts I sent:

Dudes vaping in Lambeau its madness

Empty baby carriage with a blanket and two bud light tallboys F***ing lawlessness in God's country

Samkon Gado jersey sighting, Fishcat lives!

Retirement age dude wearing a Packers 69 Hawk Tuah jersey, the depravity of it all

GZA's playing a concert downtown!?!

Only person of note I saw was John Kuhn. Smaller than I would have thought.imo

My grading system is the old ron wolf system. A successful draft is 4 diamonds/good players.

I think the potential is strong for 3 from this group.

I'm thinking golden, one of guys on D and either the other WR or the tackle.
