you can be ROY in this class and still be a mid prospect at best so not sure what the big deal is one way or the other

Castle haters are something else.
I legit haven't seen any Castle haters in the thread, just you attempting to put yourself on a pedestal for liking a guy that went 4th in the NBA draft when we picked 6th lol. If the Hornets pick 3rd and Dylan Harper goes 2nd are you going to brag about how you thought Harper was good too?
See how strange that process is lol, especially when everyone on the board pretty much had Castle as a top 5 guy in their ranks. He wasn't even a divisive topic lol.
If you aren't a Castle hater why are you taking issue with what I said?
I never said he was a option. I'm just saying he was the best rookie like I thought before the draft. It's nothing wrong with patting myself on the back.
Cmon bro this shouldn't bother you.
I did not know if he was the best player at the time, I just knew his game being a UConn superfan, watched him closely, and became convinced he's the perfect fit and the missing ingredient for the roster of my favorite pro team (Charlotte).
But folks went on and on about how he didn't impress at UConn. I tried to convey what I saw with my own eyes. Means many here never gave him more than a superficial look. No deep dive.
And terrifyingly, perhaps our own GM was one of those people. He mused about moving up for Sheppard, caught on tape.

Re: Around the NBA 12
Nah just weird you guys are constantly patting each other on the back and acting like it is you vs the world when pretty much the whole board was fine with taking Castle if he was on the board at 6. Hell half of us were pretty convinced he would be drafted before we selected anyways, and we were also right, should we make a big deal that we were right that Castle would be drafted and you guys thought he would fall to us? See how silly that is?
Altogether, Castle was pretty mid for a rookie and just so happened to be the best of a terrible class that made his season look better than it was.
Castle rookie stats 26.7 mpg, 14.7 ppg, 4.1 assist, 3.7 rebounds, 47.6% EFG, 28.5% from three
Scoot rookie stats 28.5 mpg 14 ppg, 5.4 assists, 3.1 rebounds, 44% EFG% and 32.5% from three
Miller rookie stats 32.2 mpg 17.3 ppg, 2.4 assists, 4.3 rebounds, 52.4 EFG% and 37.3% from three
I still like Castle long-term and I had him top 5 on my board lol just like pretty much everyone else here. However, his rookie season was much closer to Scoot Henderson then it was Brandon Miller for example, he was very inefficient. Especially when you compare him to past ROY award winners.

You have him top 5 but you shouldn't have Salaün top 25.

Re: Around the NBA 12
Instead of targeting players who can get where they want to go with the ball in their hands, our GM added Josh Green and Salaün.
I remain concerned, especially when that bug doesn't seem to bother fans (ex: Castle is mid).
I mean, the absence of focus/emphasis on ballhandling may turn out to be a tragic flaw of the GM in his roster building.
Terrifying!
But I'm just being WEIRD!

This convo isn't even about people advocating for Salaun or Green lol, not sure why Salaun is even being brought up as I am pretty sure nobody on the board was rooting for him at #6 on draft day..... In fact I would assume 100% of fans had Castle over Salaun on their predraft ranks lol. So you're sob story about how we all hated Castle, dismissed you, ignored his tape as a top 5 pick in a draft where we picked 6th makes zero sense.
You're entire point here is we drafted the wrong guy... by telling us we should have drafted a guy that wasn't available. I mean yeah that is weird lol. I also think we should take Cooper Flagg with the 4th pick this year if that is the lottery outcome everyone can put that on record and I can come back and brag that Flagg is good.
I simply am saying Castle was pretty similar to Scoot as a rookie. One of these guys was clowned for being terrible all year his rookie year, which he was. The other is getting shouted out like he just laid the groundwork to be next Luka Doncic. If Castle was in last years draft class he wouldn't of even had a top 5 rookie season, and likely won't have a top 5 rookie season when compared to this upcoming class. Hence why people are saying it was a Mid season for a ROY and that is probably being nice, among ROY winners his season is just flat out bad in comparison.

Now that everyone's had a chance to weigh in on this stupid castle conversation it's time to remind everyone that we've mentioned numerous times that scoreboarding as a way to flame/troll/bait It's not acceptable behavior, especially when it's done repeatedly over and over. Let's move on...

Re: Around the NBA 12
I still don't think Castle will be that great. This was a Malcolm Brogdon ROY draft class. We still wiffed though. 100 percent of the board would take Edey or Ware over Salaun in a redraft. This team has got to get better at drafting. We passed up multiple players in the last 5 years that we desperately need, and whats worse is that most of the fans on here were advocating with them...its like Charlotte should just dump its entire scouting department and use us as a thinktank instead for free.

Without some check on positions taken predraft, it just enables fans to recklessly put down players, or dismiss fans advocating for them, and never have to own their position. So it just makes it more likely they smother discourse without account.
You would think with the way law cites precedent some check on prior debate would be valued.
Here? Ignore precedent. Pretend it never happened. No case can be settled/closed.
It's weird AF.

how about my boy Dyson Daniels winning Most Improved, man I wish we got him here somehow. He would have been perfect on this team, well any team really.

Re: Around the NBA 12
Pretty stoked to watch the Lakers lose. Always a good day when lebron is out of the Playoffs. Pretty hilarious to see Gobert just absolutely maul them in a must win game. Now all of us Hornets fans that watch Mark know that he might not have been able to prevent any center from having a 30-20 type game. But Lakers fans don't know that. So watching them implode all summer second guessing themselves on rescinding the mark trade is going to be pretty hilarious. They wasted another year of lebrons career and for what?
As for Lebron- The amount of superstars he's had the pleasure of playing with in his career over the years is ridiculous. I don't think there's any player in the history of the league that has had as many Hall of Fame level players in their prime as teammates.
I get why the Lakers make the Luka trade. You have to make that trade if it's presented to you. But they probably could have made it to the finals with a healthy Davis this season. It was never gonna work with this team as constructed.

Wolves should have won by more but Edwards was too busy trying to get his by launching 3's. Once Lakers decided to play small, killing them inside was always the best option.
