Detroit because the media and fans will be so annoying if it is NY.

Re: Round 2 Issues
It's now really laughable the Knicks gave up 5 1st rnd picks for Bridges.
Back then NY was thinking OG and Bridges would be able to counter the Jays of the Celtics.

yup, give me the Knicks easily. DET is on an upswing and much tougher, physically. NYK -- even with M. Robinson back -- are who we think they are.
BOS over NYK in 4 or 5.
BOS over DET probably takes 5 or 6 and carries a higher injury risk
plus I LOVE watching the Celtics beat the Knicks, in Boston and on the road

If Celtics play their game, it doesn't matter who we face.

Re: Round 2 Issues
I think the Pistons will give us a tougher series. I am not worried about either one really.
Brunson is injured enough for Knicks fans to say “it doesn’t count” when they lose.

Re: Round 2 Issues
I don’t care who it is. If they can’t get past this round it’s a huge disappointment. The Cavs will be their biggest test assuming they get by the pacers . Coild start off on the road where they gonna have to show why they had the best road record this year.

Re: Round 2 Issues
Give me the Pistons. I don't think the Knicks are more of a threat but I think they're more likely to steal an extra game or two away. I want this round over as quickly as possible so give me the younger/more inexperienced team.
The Pistons will be like the Magic where they're really tough and physical but we should just be able to overpower them. They won't be able to score in big numbers against us and I don't think their defense is on the level of the Magic's, so we should handle it in a gentleman's sweep. I don't think their guys are as likely to have a disproportionately big game as guys like Brunson and KAT are. That being said I do think the Pistons series will be more physical, so it really is a toss-up because the Knicks may stretch it to 6 games but I'd guess a couple of those are blow-outs.
I'm much happier with our match-up with either of these teams vs. having to play the Pacers. I still think we would beat them but I think they could give us trouble and I'm hoping the same is true for the Cavs. If we can wrap ours up while we're running hot and get some time to rest while they have to brawl it out 6/7 vs. the Pacers, could give us a little bit of an edge which would be nice given that they've got home court. Might be easier to steal game 1 or 2 away.
Round 1 should have been good for us. We got punched in the mouth a bit (elbowed in the forehead etc.) and that hopefully woke us up. Tatum certainly turned it on after sitting out a game. We need to bring the defensive intensity and take advantage of the looser officiating of the playoffs if we want to compete with Cleveland and OKC. OKC in particular is just like the Magic in that they really push the boundaries of physical play but they've got guys who earned the benefit of the doubt from officials like SGA/Caruso etc. which means they can get away with even more. We gotta match that if we want to compete, so I'm hoping round 1 was a reminder to our guys what time of year it is.
Glad we can survive a series where not everyone is running hot, but want to see some games coming up where we've got everything firing on all cylinders. I think that's the level of play we need to be at to go back to back unless OKC/CLE wilt on their own (which I don't see as likely).

This. I think the Pistons pose more of a threat. Knicks know they can’t beat Boston.

Re: Round 2 Issues
I work at a residential for girls transitioning out of detention, and me and the other two supervisors are all NBA psychopaths. We aren't allowed to, but we have convinced the girls to ask to watch the games because they think the players are cute, so now when I'm at work we have been watching all of March Madness, and now the playoffs. We made deals with them that get them things like popcorn and soda as long as they don't act up, and they love it. Needless to say they are all into basketball now, and heavily invested in the playoffs
They tell us when the games are on now
The best part? One of the supervisors is from NY and a die hard Knicks fan. I'm obviously from Boston and the other supervisor bleeds green too. There are two units with the girls, and we have been battling to convert as many as possible to the cause, but it's pretty even 50/50 split with a slight edge to Boston (Tatum and Browns looks go a long way here lol).
Needless to say, i'm praying for a NYK v Bos series, just because it guarantee's i'll get to watch every game at work, but also because of how much fun it's going to bring to my life as I watch these kids and staff get into the games every other night. They haven't started any fights over it yet, and it's been super playful, and the energy has been awesome watching the Knicks close games. I want to see it when everyone is rooting for a different team
Watching with people who have no idea whats happening is also extremely enjoyable if you've never experienced it before. I had one girl ask me what a foul was, so I explained, and her response was "but that happens on every play, so why did the ref blow it then but not last play?" Made me happy knowing i'm watching the mistrust of authority get funneled into the zebras and not me
Story aside, I want the Knicks just because it's our division rival, and good for the NBA. Celtics are one of the only teams in the NBA that still has rivals and culture, and want as much of it as possible. I think some people are over stating DETs physicality, and are forgetting that NY has Hart and OG who would be the two most physical guys coming out of that series. I expect guys like Bridges and OG to play better, as DET just has Cade and then it's by comity, but against us, they would know their roles to a T. Towns also would make KP work on defense. Don't get fooled, NY is not a cake walk for us.
Both teams are similar in that they have 1 dynamic pg that makes them go. Game plan would be the same, shut down their shooters and let the PG cook, and then suffocate in the 4th.
Like everyone else I just want us healthy for CLE

Re: Round 2 Issues
It doesn't matter too much what team it is, both are favorable match ups for the Celtics.
Celtics went 3-1 vs Detroit in the regualr seaosn, their lone loss they were without Jaylen Brown.
Celtics went 4-0 vs New York in the regular seaosn winning by a combined 65 points.
Can't see the series going past 5 games. The key will be can they get threw it healthy.
