I think the only path with Doc as the head coach is a situation where you turn Giannis into Flagg plus other assets, are waiting out the Dame and Kuz contracts, so you just let Doc coach a young team which is something he seems somehow okay at and the owners can avoid paying two coaches while you let Doc’s next two years expire then bring in a new coach after that.

He was actually decent coaching that young Clippers team and his best work during his Bucks tenure was first round last year with no Dame and no Giannis and he somehow kept them more competitive than this year with Giannis.

If you keep Giannis, Doc has to go.

No, I'm not that charitable. Doc isn't good whether Giannis is on the team or whether the team is young without Giannis.

If this season has taught us anything, it's that Doc has no clue who to play.

I don’t really think very many national folks really know or watch the Bucks.

Lowe, Timpf , etc were almost all talking about how Brook will be used in the series coming in, how it may just depend on how many threes he can hit etc, and I think that’s just a sign they hadn’t been paying attention.

I think Timpf, to his credit, did acknowledge our recent winning lineup, but Lowe seemed particularly checked out.

The answer was always Bobby and our lineup that had done well since Dame’s absence. Bobby was also the better player last year against the Pacers, too.

No amount of middling picks & middling prospects is anywhere near the value of Giannis, there isn’t a scenario short of falling ass backward into another Giannis level player at like #15 again that would change that and with our FO I think we’d be drafting more Rashad Vaugns and Thon Makers than we would Giannis. Stop pining for the poo poo platter, there is no scenario where this trade loads us up as contenders for the next decade. You have to accept the mediocrity since there is no path to tanking, it’s better than being **** awful with no picks of our own for the next half decade

Anything that doesn’t send back an asset that can be potentially be that top 10 player you need to contend really should be a non starter

Lowe got really lazy during his ESPN run, especially when he just focused on his inane podcast. No wonder Simmons lured him back to The Ringer. Birds of a feather those two.

Alright, I don't even know if I like this but it would work:

Bucks trade:
Giannis

Bucks receive:
Trey Murphy III
DeJounte Murray
NOP 2025 #1
NOP 2026 MIL Swap Rights
NOP 2027 MIL Swap Rights
HOU 2025 #1 (via Phoenix)
HOU 2027 #1 (via Phoenix)
HOU 2028 #1

Houston trades:
Fred VanVleet
Amen Thompson
HOU 2025 #1 (via Phoenix)
HOU 2027 #1 (via Phoenix)
HOU 2028 #1

Houston receives:
Giannis

New Orleans trades:
Trey Murphy III
DeJounte Murray
NOP 2025 #1
NOP 2026 MIL Swap Rights
NOP 2027 MIL Swap Rights

New Orleans Receives:
Fred VanVleet
Amen Thompson

Milwaukee gets the motherload of picks. Houston gets the second best player in the world. New Orleans gets a young star and off a bad contract.

I'm not sure if Brooke is under contract yet but if he is I know the Lakers are looking for a center and maybe he would like to go back to LA and we could get something usable out of the deal .. I think Jericho Sims definitely needs more minutes they're like a different team when he's out there tapping out loose balls getting offensive rebounds
it's always funny............... TILL I GET HURT!!!!

Brook will be unrestricted after the season.

Not sure how sign and trades even work anymore and I wouldn't do this if I was the Lakers purely just based on age, but a Brook for Riu sign/trade could be logical. Gets LA their big, Riu overlaps positionally with LBJ a bunch so I would think he's the guy they'll be looking to trade this offseason. I'd be looking to move Riu for something else if I was them but its somewhat logical. Riu is a generally solid player, 6'8 so could be the PF next to Giannis in closing lineups, with 3 wings/shooters

I don't really buy the national media saying there is no path to winning in Milwaukee. They just don't want to put in the effort to look at the situation without bias and hope he takes the easy way out by forcing a trade request.

Get a competent coach and some rotation pieces that fit together and that play a modern brand of basketball and there's a chance at a top 4 seed even with Dame out. It won't be easy, but not entirely impossible the way national pundits are portraying it. They want the death of Milwaukee basketball.

There's only 3 players I would want back in a trade with Giannis that may give us the slightest bit of hope in a reboot.

JWILL - (I believe he can make a Harden-esque jump)
AMEN - (RWB-ish on steroids, + DEFENDER)
FLAGG - Sell seats, + Potential

If we're not getting back any of those players, I don't want to entertain it. Draft assets mean nothing given our track record. Chet, Castle, Segun, Franz are all nice players, but none of those guys look like they can be Alpha and carry a organization. I don't even think Flagg can, but he'll keep casuals interested.

If Miami can make multiple finals runs this decade then I’m not giving up hope, having Giannis is way better than being in the basement with no realistic way of getting out of it. Things can be a lot worse. Just get a competent coach ffs

Again, we don't have a Bam Adebayo or Tyler Herro or the coaching to replicate what the Heat have done. It's not a fair comparison at all. The Heat weren't just a hodgepodge of castoffs.

Well, we do have Giannis which is a cheat code. You're right with Bam and Herro and that we don't have the management structure to pull it off, but MIA plucked tons of castoffs and turned them into rotation players. It feasibly can be done here and could be argued having Giannis gives you a leg up. But them having Riley/Spo over Doc probably chops both legs off.

Doc is 63, for the love of God make him POBO or "senior advisor" or whatever figurehead title so he gets his money without being fired. He can talk about the want/need to spend more time with his family or any other b.s. they want to spin and he can hit the links. PLEASE.

I thought this proposed trade was at least interesting, though I'd take Duke's Maluach. You essentially come away with a brand new, super young starting lineup of Sheppard, Green (who I don't like), Whitmore, Jabari and Maluach, along with some additional draft capital. Throwing in some of our existing young players (KPJ, AJ, Sims) and the right coach, and the Bucks could immediately be a playoff team.

That’s not a playoff team next year. That’s a bottom feeder.

That’s also a terrible trade for Giannis.

Neither of Houston’s most valuable young players, and only 3 firsts which includes a mid-lottery pick this year, a protected future first, and a ‘27 Phx first? There’s literally no franchise talent, and unless that Phoenix 1st ends up number 1, you aren’t getting one in that package.

At that point, you hang onto your franchise talent.

Could an injured Lillard for Ayton/Grant trade make sense for the Bucks and Blazers? Would Horst take a chance on another combo forward with a worse contract than Kuzma on the hopes that he has a bounce back season? Is the salary relief enough for the Blazers to bring back Lillard?

If Doc is back with the Bucks in any capacity next season the owners and Horst need their ass beat publicly.

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
