You dont understand the mind set of these european players. He felt at home, feels like he got stabbed in the back. He did never agree to play in LA, to be there. Y'all just expect him to swallow being pushed around because LeBron had AD traded out. Well bad news for you, hes not that guy. He wont bow to Reddick, LeBron or anyone else. He will pick where he wants to play, under his terms and with the team he wants, not the one LeBron picked. Once he's there, he will be in shape and lead them to the finals, possibly a title.

The first-year coach mentioned that the Lakers roster must "get in championship shape" this offseason, via multiple reporters. Redick mentioned that multiple players were in "phenomenal" shape, via The Athletic's Jovan Buha, but that others could have been in better shape.

Luka is in decent shape but would be better IMO if he were 10-15 lbs lighter.

Playing heavier has it advantages (ask Fat Kevin Love), but better stamina isn't one of them.

Redick has said on his old podcast, I believe, that everyone knew Luka could dial in his fitness habits more.

That's not the same thing as what Nico was saying, however. Nico was blaming Luka for his injuries (Luka's team said, instead, that he was coming back from injuries too quickly) and he said Luka's body would break down because of his fitness.

Luka has never had a major injury, unlike Nico's saviors Kyrie and Anthony. No surgeries yet, and Luka has been playing pro for a decade. By the time Irving and Davis were Luka's current age, each had had at least one surgery.

I'm physically tired of this - as an elite athlete, he's in terrible shape. lets be real. If he was crunching spreadsheets for a living he'd be in decent shape.

It’s not a shot. It’s something he needs to do and his coach needs to tell him.

Also, i am pretty sure he will critique everyone but one particular player. I've not yet seen him say a word to LeBron. He knows he's only there because of him. So spare us the drama, Reddick.

Coaches typically only go to the press when bringing something up behind closed doors hasn't worked...

For all the crying he does, his mouth is in championship shape. Unfortunately for him that doesn't burn a ton of calories.

What I like about Redick is he tells it the way it should be told and it doesn’t matter who the recipient is. Luka said he was a “hell of a coach” and seems to enjoy playing for him.

Maybe a public shot is what the fat ass needs to act like a professional?

Luka has heard plenty of public shots about his weight and it hasn't altered him yet. Well there was skinny Luka a few years ago. HE just calls up the big O and asks him how to shut out the noise about it, not Oscar the real Big O - Oliver Miller

As much as i want to see the Lakers fall and struggle for a long time, Luka and JJ’s relationship, i think, is bulletproof basing on what i see on the court.

A coach calling out his own player, assuming that’s what happened here, is something that is expected and required too. A competitor like Luka might even appreciate it too.

Is Redick a neutral coach or did LeBron get him his job? Because if Redick is LeBron's guy and Luka gets the feeling he is being thrown under the bus I don't see why Luka would put up with it. Luka could demand Redick be replaced or that he will walk.

As a guy who is the exact same height and weight as Luka, who crunches spreadsheets for a living, thanks man. It's good to be noticed for being in decent shape. :D

I couldn't agree more. I don't see the upside to taking veiled shots at Luka who has done more in his last year alone in basketball than Reddick has achieved in his whole basketball career much less 90 percent of all players in NBA history.

Reddick is too occupied with his public image. You can see it in the interviews and such statements. Insecurity and desire for admiration. I dont see him turning in to a good coach any time soon.

He almost would have been fine after saying “as a roster” as you could almost say all the players sucked in the 4th because of being tired

but…

He said “some are in better shape than others”, and it really sounds like he means Luka. Damn man, that’s cold

So let me get this straight. The Dallas Mavs traded him bc of his lack of conditioning despite them doing everything they can to push him to get in shape. He doesn't listen and continues to be who he is. Got it. So now the Lakers are trying to send the same message to him, indirectly non the less in hoping that he will change his way all of a sudden? The Lakers are in a rude awakening if they think he's just going to bow down to them. If he's ever going to get in shape it will be on his own terms only. He's been in the league for 5+ years now, and if it ain't happen yet when the hell do you think it will ever happened?

No, it's a shot at Bronny. JJ wants him to grow 6 inches taller this offseason.

I hope this is motivational and not pointing fingers, but with Reddick it could realistically be either.
