Could the addition of this Assistant Coach be what takes us over the top?

Post#1 » by three3d » Wed Nov 27, 2024 5:39 pm

I’m talking about Terry Stotts of the Golden State Warriors. Mosley is a great players coach but I think he’s lacking in the offensive creativity area of the game and Stotts would immediately be an upgrade to our offensive system and implementing a system that helps everybody. He’s got a proven track record and is only on a one year deal i believe with the Warriors. Given the chance to put an offense around Paolo and Franz should be a tempting job for anyone with some creativity. Given the FO love of running it back perhaps this is the way to run it back and make it work.

Also currently we are a top 3 defense and bottom 4 offense in the League. We’re possibly positioned to take the biggest jump with just a middle of the pack offense. Orlando should be a very attractive job with the biggest upside for serious improvement and Recognition.

Ok look...

I appreciate your enthusiasm. Genuinely.

But maybe think about what you're about to post before you just start a brand new thread about something.

1. The absolute earliest the Magic could hire Terry Stotts would be like 7 months from now

2. Stotts is the lead assistant in Golden State and he quite literally just got hired. There's no indication he's not on a multi-year deal and on top of that the Warriors are also playing really well at 12-5.

I get that you think the offense needs tweaks, if not an outright overhaul, and we can talk about that certainly.

But let's just think if we really need to make a new thread about something like "TERRY STOTTS?!" before we hit send.

From what I’ve seen he’s only on a one year contract

No

We need to get healthy, improve our shooting and add a third star. Years of drafting defensive prospects like Isaac, Bamba, Okeke, Black and Suggs has led us to this point.

This trade wasn't some conspiracy - it was just a GM wanting AD bad enough where in most people's eyes he overpaid by a long shot to get him.

Lol.

I’ve argued with posters on this forum you could only dream of even matching in quality.

Not even worth my time.

I said this since the beginning of the season. You add an Offensive assistant WITH 2 Offensive minded wings who can shoot/playmake this team is going to be a contender next year.

It’s an opportunity that doesn’t come along very often because most teams are lucky to have just one of those guys in that mold. We have TWO of them, it’s a unique situation for someone with a vision to come make a name for themselves or someone that’s already established as an offensive guru to put his finger print on our first ever championship. It’s

Tl:dr yes, an offensive specialist assistant coach who can actually make our offense top half of the league SCHEME-wise would help a lot. In additon to the FO getting more shooters/playmakers and the players learning to shoot straight.

There’s lots of blame to go around with how bad the offense is and coaching staff definitely is part of that problem.

I don’t think any player movement should happen till the assistant coaching staff is upgraded. Giving someone like Stotts Paolo and Franz to creat a system around could be the easiest job with the biggest rewards possible immediately.
