Boston just a touch matchup because they play 5 out and really don't have a weak defender (outside of KP having to guard in space) but they are going to put KP on Hart. So we will probably see a lot of Brunson/Hart P&R action with KP in drop...but Jrue and White they can throw at brunson instead of just Ausar. The difference his Pistons have two non-shooters and they still hurt us at times with the 3 ball which the Celtics usually play lineups with 5 shooters.

They are going to spam P&R with bringing Brunson and KAT into the action and Cade isn't a great shooter so OG had time to recover...but Tatum is a much better shooter so don't think the way we defended the P&R vs the pistons will apply to Celtics.

Windy days Knicks taking Celtics to 6 is a win. They want to bank on them not being able to keep that team together. What?

I prefer being the underdog. When we on top we come out playing like we won already. Keep the dog mentality keep the negativity coming.

Of course he did. He's built for this sh*t.

He had a very good series that he wasn't going to get credit for without that signature moment, but the guy came to play.

updated defense matchups for the pistons series...

You see the impact even though he had rough stretches with Mitch in the paint.

Mikal had a fantastic defensive series...we will need him to play great vs Celtics.

OG was really good as well since he was on there best player for a majority of the game.

Yeah low key he had a really good series he wasn't getting enough credit for without the really strong efficient game 6. He still has bits of passiveness and shooting inconsistencies but I trust him to show up when it matters. He's just been a winner his entire career.

He's a low-key psycho. I don't think people really noticed how much the Detroit crowd was animating him.

Mikal will figure it out. I think there has been enough pop from players on this team for the FO to see the potential. Now we just have to find a way to maximize it starting next season.

But that's a conversation for a different time.

I've watched the last 5 mins of the game like a dozen times and I can't figure out why Bickerstaff called that timeout when Detroit was in transition up 5. We were reeling and they had an advantage in both momentum and floor balance.

Even watching it live, it felt odd to me.

I thought it was to get Tobias Harris back in the game, but he was already in (and sucks) so it wasn't worth losing that possession over.

Could you imagine having Harris be such a pillar of your culture and having playoff aspirations? Couldn't be my team.

That late timeout by Bickerstaff and then subbing Thompson out were both major blunders in hindsight. Pistons fans are not happy with him.

Mikal Bridges
16.2 PPG 5.0 RPG 1.8 APG 1.5 SPG 1.2 BPG
47.6% on 14.3 FGA
32.4% on 5.7 3PA
85.7% on 1.2 FTA
54.2% EFG 55.7% TS

Not bad for a guy who is constantly the whipping boy on this board. We don't win yesterday and probably don't win the series without him.

Did we witness a new dynamic between Mikal and Brunson? I felt like Mikal was making an effort to stay connected and communicate down the stretch, just being way more assertive as a 2nd option.

Him subbing out Thompson was the only thing that gave me hope when it seemed like the game was over.

I get that Bickerstaff wanted to save the kid's fouls for the last 2 mins and probably give him a rest, but Brunson immediately started killing Schroeder.

Say what you want about Thibs, but that's a mistake he will never make

Technically, that would be the old dynamic between them.

I was a little baffled at the time out as well but I went to go back and check...Pistons had 3 timeouts left...once you pass the 3 minute mark in the 4th qtr you can only carry over 2 timeouts under 3 mins...so some coaches feel compelled to call a TO because you lose it anyway. In that case it was unnecessary and certainly gave us some time to settle down.

Well he can hang a banner that says "Used all my challenges and timeouts" this season I guess

The game certainly was not telling me that a TO was needed there

I was focusing on KAT most of the game and he's usually the last person getting back on offense, and in half court sets he's wondering around the 3pt line not trying to be involved in anything or not fighting for position down low. 3 out of the 6 games he has not been good offensively
