1) Upgrade the coach (Dan Hurley? Mike Malone? Frank Vogel? Johnnie Bryant?)
2) KAT + Bridges for Giannis + Portis Jr.
3) Sign Steven Adams to TAX MLE for 4 years.

His advance stats are good, the Knicks can give him guaranteed money or maybe even S&T Precious and some second rounders for him because I don’t think Philly can keep him at all if they plan to pay Grimes. They can go up maybe 1 year but offering him a multi year deal would kill their books.
He works next to KAT and Mitch who should be sharing minutes at the 5 next year.
Knicks can’t receive a player via a sign and trade as it would hard cap them at the first apron. I could see Yaba as a target for the tax MLE, especially if he doesn’t take the full amount. And the fit makes sense, although I’d prefer to use the tax MLE on a rim protector or another play maker. But Yaba might be BPA and there is an argument why that is the way to go.
Other tax MLE targets:
Clint Capela - although I think he gets more money elsewhere - same with Brook Lopez
Malcolm Brogdon
Santi Aldama
Malik Beasley
Gary Trent Jr
Dennis Schroeder
I think Aldama is getting a 80/4 extension or something near it.
The best ring chasers targets that could be gotten for the TMLE/min salary are:
PG: CP3, Schoreder, DLo, RW, Spencer Dinwidie, Brogdon, Tre Jones, Tyus Jones, Lowry
Small Wings: Bruce Brown, Luke Kennard, Timmy, Malik, Gary Trent Jr, Gary Harris (TO), Burks, Seth
Big Wings: Yabusele, Ben Simmons, Nance Jr, Boucher, Lyles,
Centers: Capela, Adams, Bagley, Kornet, Byrant, Mamu, Mason, Kevon
Bojan Bogdanovic should be ready next season. So probably add him to the ring chaser list.
For the TMLE - I would like to use it on Ben Simmons because his defensive is still good. He can be another tall primary ball handler and still can create. Yes, his spacing will be non existent. There could be times where Simmons can be a small ball 5 or pair up with KAT.

That is a level of creativity I don’t think the FO has. Simmons as a small ball type center next to KAT isn’t crazy. He is legit scared/embarrassed to shoot but his skill set is still there. The injuries were unfortunate but if you’re not paying him a lot of money he is still valuable.

Agree here. He’s an upgrade over Payne and we need another guy who can get to the hoop consistently

If we can't get Schroeder, I'm sure Divo would do far better with us than he's doing in Minny.

Re: Trades and Transactions Thread - 2025 Cont'd
We need another reliable wing off the bench, someone with size that can defend 2-4, almost all our bench perimeter players are 6'5" and under. The front office has a fascination with combo guards and keeps going after them as long as they're 6'4", they neglect going after forwards, it's weird at this point. OG is our tallest perimeter player at 6'7", while several other playoff teams have multiple guys that tall or taller. You can never have too many big wings, never.
They don't even need to be some incredible player, just someone that can give you a solid 15 minutes in a playoff game, the Celtics have Sam Hauser who is 6'8" will defend multiple positions, knock down a bunch of threes and not make many mistakes. We need that kind of player off our bench, even a Dean Wade or Batum would help us out. We lack versatility off the bench.

Someone floated Mitch for Rui which would allow Hart to go back to his ideal 6th man role and open up minutes for Huk.

I mean, starting Mitch would achieve the same without tearing a hole into our center position. But I’d do that deal anyway hoping for a Kessler or who knows what’s up their sleeves.

Mitch, Deuce, filler for Rui and a protected 1st or three 2nd rounders could be a win-win. I really like Rui’s fit here and Lakers badly need a center as well as more nba depth (Deuce). Mitch and Deuce actually fit Luka really well.

He reportedly turned down an extension offer for an unknown amount from the Mavs earlier. I imagine he would be looking for more than taxpayer MLE ($5.7M) that the Knicks have to offer.

KAT, Huk and we also have the tax MLE 5m+ to use…

Re: Trades and Transactions Thread - 2025 Cont'd
I just don't see the Lakers trading Rui for Mitch, he averaged 15ppg, 5rpg and shot 48% from three in that series against the Wolves. I think they're going to use the package they used for Mark Williams to go after a more reliable center.
But, Rui is the right direction, he's too big of a fish for us to land with what we have.

This offseason, I could see a bunch of big time pieces with big contracts being moved for 25 cents on a dollar. A lof of teams are looking to shed contracts.
Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid, Paul George, KD, Jamal Murray (?)

TRADE
Mitch for Eason & Landale
Why for Houston : Adams is a FA, they replace their backup C spot
Why for NY : Eason is a perfect complementary backup wing, Landale is a capable stretch 5 backup option, allows Huk to be primary backup to KAT. KAT/Huk combo looked good in limited minutes while Mitch went down
FA Signing
- use vet min for either Tre/Tyus Jones
- use vet min for Boucher
1. Brunson / Jones / Kolek
2. Mikal / Deuce / Shamet
3. Hart / Eason / Dadiet
4. OG / Boucher / Tucker
5. KAT / Huk / Landale

This makes sense cause it’s turning Mitch into two players.
I also think that Adam’s is about to get paid. He was a major factor in the rockets even getting to game 7 cause defense is why they hung around so long. So them trading for Mitch is a possibility.
I just I think it would be easier for both sides if the Knicks wanted Cam Whitmore more who is buried on the Rockets roster due to their wing depth.

Eason is looking at a $100m contract down the pike. Proved he's a playoff performer. Don't think hes attainable for Mitch.
Now Whitmore is another story
