Sure, but the scenario they were afraid would literally be playing out if they kept him. 2nd Apron and his contract untradeable.

My answer to this: what are their next 4 years looking like anyway? No youth, no picks. This was a ride or die crew. You're out of options anyway. Might as well ride out those 4 years and start over after.

We can better judge next season and the following one, this was supposed to be a reset year for them. They're short on picks but do have some tradeable assets and clean books. Will see what they do with that.

I wasn't able to see the game. But the Clippers had a good late season run after Kawhi came back. Harden was playing well. Tough seven game series in a tough conference, and lose to a recent champion. Having a bad seventh game showing is disappointing but it happens.

Neither Denver nor LAC could beat OKC anyway

Tough game from Powell. Harden with another stinker in a big game. They should look to trade a guy like Powell. You got your skilled players with Kawhi and Harden and now you need guys that compliment those players. Some Swiss Army knife type players. Guys who can guard multiple positions and knockdown the three. Problem is these guys are hard to find.

What makes you say that? I’d never count out Jokic. I favour OKC but Denver might give them a good series.

Forgot about the last time Kawhi was healthy. But this is his second game 7 turd against the Nuggets. Some legacy tarnishing here. I'll always go back to Lowry and Gasol taking care of all the offense/defense supplementary stuff and letting him do his thing as a key piece missing in his Clipper tenure.

I think OKC will wear them down with superior depth and athleticism, and they have size too in Chet and Hartenstein. I think Murray will struggle against Dort and the OKC defense, and the Nuggets don't have someone to guard SGA.

It's a little unfair to put that +/- on Kawhi when others were -31, -28, -27.

Especially when Kawhi had the same amount of points as the next 2 best starters combined.

It's the question of impact on the game. Kawhi's calling card is he can stifle an opponent player, rebound the crap out of the ball and score at an elite level. His masterpiece to me was the Bucks series. He wasn't the full court tilting player that Jokic/Steph/LeBron can be on offense. He has to have all those pieces in place to reach those heights.

Kawhi is a phenomenal player. But he was very fortunate to have played for two amazing teams. Look at who he played with here. Gasol, Lowry, Pascal, Ibaka, Green, Norm, Fred and OG (injured). That’s an incredibly stacked team.

The guy had 22/5/2/2 on 65 TS% in a game where the rest of the starters combined for 38 points on 44 TS%. He was pretty much the only one that showed up. Calling that game by Kawhi a "game 7 turd" is absolutely wild.

lol big reason they even made it to the playoffs when most people had clippers pegged for the lottery is because of norm.
accountability starts from the top. a oft injured kawhi and non-performing harden has to top the list; weird a role player gets blamed in a 30 point loss.

Clippers are a very stacked team but Denver’s consistency with their core over so many years eventually won out. They just beat one of the better teams in the playoffs but OKC is a different beast. I’ll root for Denver though they match up probably the best with Boston imo.

Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

our team around kawhi leonard was criminally underrated. so many players including lowry, gasol, ibaka, fred, norm, green played huge roles in various different series

No disrespect, just an analytical standpoint

It didn't need explaining. It's harder to defend speedy guys like Maxey at the best of times; especially while aging. Case closed.

Him leaving was honestly a lose-lose-lose (TOR-LA-Kawhi) for every single party.

Yet it was written in the stars. It's why the Raptors got him so cheap in the first place. Kawhi was always LA bound.

the problem wasn't this year. it was the year after kawhi's contract finishes. Let's face it. they are more than a Podcast P away from going all the way. Not worth mortgaging a potential year to go big in free agency. It's still LA.

If kawhi was more efficient than the clippers would win.

What a bunch of nonsense.

Chet is going to get abused by Joker, no?

Backed down and bodied out of the way everytime. They basically need Hartenstein to stay out of foul trouble.

Denver has actually won before, OKC has never made it past this point.

It wouldn't shock me if Denver won this series. As you said, SGA might go nuclear too. Tough one to predict IMO.

Norm had a pretty good playoff series and had a great season. He stepped up with PG leaving.

With that said, he will always have limitations to his game. Clippers should try to trade him for a better, more complimentary player.
