Size matters
Plus / minus in the series:
Steven Adams +4, +2, +1, +16, +15, +15 = +53
Gary Payton II -10, -4, +1, -13, -9, -12 = -47
Teams took different paths throughout the series. GP II tries to sneak in. Adams just towers. Younger Rockets play taller and more athletic.
I would start PG Curry, SG Moody, SF Butler, PF Green and C Post.
Santos to play backup minutes when Butler or Green get a rest.
TJD or Looney to matchup Adams.

Re: Size matters
The idea that Kerr wont play a big is DOA. He has played a 2nd round rookie big minutes two years running. Looney pulled a steven adams in 2022 and played a lot. Kerr plays small because its our best team. He does not have great bigs to put out there.

bigs work when you have shooting to support them... Adams works when you have elite defense and FVV Smith Brooks as shooters. Even you have Adam it would not work with us , he will not be able to play with Green and Butler.

Posted on other threads but...
Curry, Jimmy, Moody, Kuminga, Draymond
or
Curry, Jimmy, Moody, Draymond, Post
are both big lineups (dominate size at wings) that can punish Fred and Jalen.

They don't have more shooters. We simply have no inside scoring or defensive authority. That's why TJD, JK, Gui and Knox should get stints and Moody should start. To even that athleticism bar while beating them with bb IQ. It does take to figure out balanced lineups to maintain both IQ and athleticism.

Re: Size matters
I dont know if possible to get big who would fit to Green and Butler
a) good shooter/spacer
b) good rebounder
c) good defender
These bigs are priceless at the moment in NBA.

Re: Size matters
I prefer tiny. Small. Little. 4 guards? Nah, let's go 5 guards and really throw off this Rockets team. My all midget team: Spencer, Steph, Buddy, Podz, & Moody. Who's going to stop that? You know Kerr really wants to pull the trigger on that lineup and win game 7 "his way."

Size matters but talent matters more. You can’t count on a rookie center in a game 7.

You would play the bottom of the bench in the biggest game of the year?

Thing is, we’ve never had an answer for Adams.xdrta+ wrote:jozef wrote:cpower wrote:Adams works when you have elite defense and FVV Smith Brooks as shooters. Even you have Adams it would not work with us , he will not be able to play with Green and Butler.

Not at OKC, nor anywhere since.
This movie is like the Rocky Horror Picture Show where everyone knows all the lines.

Refusing to do so got us to a game 7 that should have been won in 5 and every game of this series was the biggest game of the year up to that time. You think this team can get away with not doing so if it is going to win a championship this year? The imperative remains even if the team gets to the next rounds.

I've been saying for years Kerr has been looking for a do all big. Sometimes you just need someone to be big out there.

Re: Size matters
Rockets struggled against the zone. Sengun looked flat footed, Adams did not make impact. Buddy hit almost everything and Brandin missed a lot. Nice win.

They both started so it's like a double negative, right?
