Cavs got LBJ from the number one pick in 2003. Detroit was the best team in the East, pick Darko over Carmelo at #2 which started the fall of a dynasty.
GSW was a top team and selected Wiseman and pass up LaMelo. So, here we are as the favorite to win the series.
Lessons learn? Don't draft center with the #2 pick and try to be melo.

The Wolves need to win game one. Historically teams coming off of a 7 game series against a rested team don't fare well, If we win games one and two at Target Center, I think we will at least split out in San Francisco and come home and close it out in game 5. We need to take care of business at home and that starts Tuesday night. If we lose one it's going to be a long series. If we lose both we will be in trouble.

Go wolves ! Get ready don’t loose control against Draymond dirty play . Will be a tough one. I find people here very optimistic. For me we are still the underdogs.

I'm very surprised to find the betting odds on the series.
BetMGM: Minnesota Timberwolves (-160) are the favorite to win the second-round playoff series vs Golden State Warriors. Minnesota opened as a -160 favorite to beat Golden State in the second round of the playoffs.
I thought we would get no respect.

I was expecting Wolves to be favorites. Wolves got lot of respect after the way they beat Lakers.

I'd like to see Jaylen Clark play, I think he could cause problems for Curry. At least give him a few minutes game 1 and see how it goes.

I'd be surprised if this isn't also a gentleman sweep. We match up well against them so long as Naz gets minutes.

I went and looked at Warriors bench averages on basketball reference. Looney was averaging 9.3 minutes against the Rockets. Could they increase that against us, maybe, but I don’t think they like the drop in offensive production.
Post got 17 minutes. He averaged 5.3/3.1/1.6 on 32.5% from the field, 30.8% from deep, and 75% from the line on less than 1 attempt per game.
Kuminga wasn’t even really worth looking at.
I don’t see how the Warriors really go bigger? Am I missing something?

You go bigger, you play into Minnesota's hand.
Similar to what they did with Houston, Golden State's advantage is going small and spreading the floor. Unlike Houston though, Minnesota is a willing and capable 3-point shooting team.
Something Jace mentioned today with Dane though, is Golden State is not an iso team. Guys will have to chase Curry, Hield, Podziemski. This will be our biggest test.

I think the problem for GS is that LAL had better shooters overall. I think DFS, RH, and AR, are all better by percentage than Podz, Hield, and the Warriors other “floor spacers.” For instance GP2, Draymond, and Kuminga are not really high volume 3 point shooters. Moody was 37.4% in the regular season and 35.5% from deep in the playoffs on 4.5 to 5 attempts per game. Nevermind that Butler isn’t as good as Lebron from deep. With Green on the floor they cannot go 5 out and allow Rudy someone to cheat off of. This just seems like a bad approach for a team to attempt after it just failed for the Lakers.

I think if Clark sees minutes in game 1 then something went very wrong. NAW is more likely to play 35 minutes than Clark get 1

Honestly, one area I could see Butler try to exploit is the midrange. Historically, that's been very available during Finch's time here.

I think both might happen.

Anybody got NAW’s defensive numbers versus Curry? He seems like the type of defender that would give Steph problems?

I just think Clark has better change of direction quickness than NAW, which would be better for guarding Curry.

NAW 20 minutes in Curry, Donte 20 minutes on Curry, Clark remainder minutes on Curry.
I do want less Mike in this series, more point Randle, and more Donte and NAW. I think Mike should be saved for OKC when we may need him more.

Need off-ball defense to be better...especially Ant can be caught off-guard at times in off-ball defense

True. But as people have said GSW isn’t an ISO team. The distinction between on ball and off ball is less apparent when everything is a connected action with a series of screens designed to get Curry open from deep. The key for me is containing Jimmy and forcing Curry to not have a lot of easy assists off of help defense. Let Curry get his 25-40 and beat the Warriors in 4 or 5 regardless.

Jaden is going to be on Curry. I think that can be written in stone
Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
