No interest in Queen unless Masai thinks he can convince him to play defense.

And Knueppel can play defense?
His defense is pretty bad even with effort.

It's easier to hide him on someone than it is your center.

Considering that lineup, the biggest need is length/height - especially in the frontcourt.

If Brooklyn stays at #6 after the draft lottery, I wouldn't be surprised if Derik Queen, Khaman Malauch, Collin Murray-Boyles, and possibly even Asa Newell are ranked ahead of guards/wings like Tre Johnson, Jeremiah Fears, Kon Knueppel, Jase Richardson, and Kaspars Jakucionis,

They will take BPA but after looking at that lineup my guess is they would want to lean guard. At 6, I think they take Fears if he's available. They have zero guard upside

Yeah Fears makes a lot of sense with that line up but if Johnson is available at 6 the talent might be too much to pass up.

I'll just say that a lot of people have Kon going to the Spurs but if I were them I'd target Carter Bryant with their 1st pick & Fleming with the 2nd.

The best teams in the league (BOS & OKC) are great defensive teams -- if they have Fox, Castle, Bryant, Fleming & Vic, damn that could be a TOUGH defensive squad and CB & RF bring some much needed shooting/floor spacing while also giving their defence potential to become the best in the league when you have Vic there to clean up whoever can even get some space from those other guys. Because all of Castle, Bryant & Fleming can defend their asses off and even Fox can guard when he's asked to.

They'd be very similar in size to BOS except of course even Vic trumps KP and now the Cs are already talking about breaking that apart while the Spurs would have most of these guys for the next 7+ years. If I was El Jefe in SAS, that's what I'd do.

Queen will probably play PF.
Meanwhile, I don't think Dick can be easily hide, let alone Knueppel.

CBS

But like the man said, not too many ppl on the planet are 7'2 and can move like he moves. Size is definitely important and is having 2 potential 7footers at the 5 spot is key.

Every team left has a 7 footer playing or on their team

What is the evidence of Johnson has more talent than Fears?

I’d be happy with that. Been a fan of Khaman all season long.

High school consensus and freshman scoring numbers?

Guy put up 20 a game as a freshman in the SEC. That's atypical.

Only Jamal Murray has done it (I think). Ant Edwards didn't even do it.

I think there is a solid amount of this in the top 10.

Harper/Fears for ball handling
Kon Tre and Ace for shooting
Fears for blow by
VJ, Kaman, CMB for defense
Kaman, Queen, for length (Queen as a skill to size guy, Kaman as full size advantage)
Flagg for the total package.

Honestly the only guy I wouldn't take in the top 10 is Kon. Simply because I think his talents overlap too many of our players while everyone else brings something we don't already have.

Right now I'd heavily bet that at 7-8 we are looking at Fears Tre Kaman and Queen and just waiting to see who drops. If something strange like VJ falling happened we'd run to the podium so fast heads would snap.

Maluach is a given. There's no way we pass him up.

In the 2nd I'm guessing we go for Thiero. He is similar to OG and could be a good project.

I'm also hoping we trade one of our wings for Fleming, ideally RJ in a salary dump.

This would give us an insane amount of depth, great projects and help us put together at least a first round team for next year. We could sign a stretch forward like Laravia.

Poeltl / Fleming / Maluach
Barnes / Mogbo / Thiero
Ingram / Walter / Lawson
Agbaji / Dick / Battle
Quickley / Shead

We either moving down to 8 or moving top 4....Staying at 7 is pretty rare.....Maluach might not be there at 8th if he has good workouts....But we shall see....If we move to top 4 i wonder if we take the swing on Maluach....Prolly not....But with Masai you never know.

I feel like it’s a little lazy because they all know we need some centre prospect to develop. So there’s a need. It reminds me of the projections having us take Suggs the entire time.

No. 1 pick odds: 7.5% | Top-four pick odds: 31.9%

If they land in the top four, they should pick ...

1. Flagg
2. Harper
3. Bailey
4. Edgecombe

Most likely pick if they stay at No. 7: Khaman Maluach, Duke, center

A strong finish to the season -- going 22-21 over the final 43 games -- diminished the Raptors' lottery chances and left them hoping for good fortune similar to 2021 when they moved from No. 7 to No. 4 and selected eventual NBA Rookie of the Year and All-Star Scottie Barnes. With Jakob Poeltl entering the final team-controlled season of his contract (player option for 2026-27), it makes sense to consider his successor, as he will turn 30 before the start of the 2025-26 regular season.

Maluach brings the type of length, defensive versatility, intensity and character Toronto's front office has often coveted, and he is someone the Raptors will be intimately familiar with given their past draft history and Maluach's South Sudanese and NBA Academy Africa background. (The Raptors drafted the first player from NBA Academy Africa, Ulrich Chomche, last June.) -- Givony

What we're hearing on the Raptors: Surrounding Barnes with the right players and finding the optimal strategy for compensating for his inconsistent 3-point shooting will continue to be a front office priority, especially with Brandon Ingram in the fold.

With most of the team's core between 21 to 27 years old, it will be interesting to see what kind of offensive jump the Raptors can make next season. The team's direction with this pick -- be it a guard, wing, forward or big man -- will shed insight into how to view this existing group. -- Givony

Define scoring. Pure points per game (more minutes, less passing the better)?
OBPM and shooting wise, Tre Johnson is better.
Free throw rate and passing wise, Fears is much better.

I am a believer that Fears can improve his shooting, while for Johnson, what would he be improving at the next level?
I can't say Fears has a higher ceiling, because Johnson has the size and length, but offensively, their ceiling are pretty much on par to me, so I am not surprised they take Fears with them already have C to make use from.
