The Celtics had him boxed up all season on offense, he picked the perfect time to have his breakout game. He's scored on better defenders (Camara, Amen, Dort etc) all year, so it never really made sense why he couldn't get going against them.

All we need from him (or Mikal) is to outplay Jaylen Brown, because Brunson can go head to head with Tatum in production.

Ended up going to the watch party at the garden. Would highly recommend it if they do it for game 2. Crowd was really going crazy during the comeback and guys like Starks, LJ, sprewell, etc were there.

Some of the defensive lapses last night were like high school level bad. That can't happen in game 2. I do think if towns didn't pickup the BS 3rd foul, he would've had a game much closer to his standards. That just threw him off for the rest of the night.

Maybe some luck involved in how many 3s the Celtics missed (then again 3PT luck is a thing in general), but loved our composure during the comeback. Shows how well we can play at our best, especially when OG has it going like that.

Have you seen this? Basically teams think KAT is soft and he didn’t exactly change the narrative last night (tho he had clutch tip ins).

I also saw him saying last night he needs to adjust to Boston’s physicality.

You can put a smaller defender on him as long as you have a weakside shotblocker to come over, if it was just Jrue or a wing with no shotblocker he'd average 85ppg. The smaller defender is the roadblock, the weakside shotblocker is why it works.

All we gotta do is put in simple actions to free them up or switch their primary defenders.

Yeah crunch time is Brunson 1 v 1 time. I have no issue with it. But getting Wingstop open looks and driving opportunities throughout the game would make this offense so much more explosive and it rewards them for their hard work defensively

I would surrender a kidney just to see Josh screening off ball for the rest of the playoffs

I also saw him saying last night he needs to adjust to Boston’s physicality.

i think he was saying that he needs to be less physical than vs detroit bc they're calling this one differently. he wasn't soft last night he was overzealous if anything (relative to the tight whistle)

As a matter of fact, the first 35 seconds are Jrue defending us last season

And all throughout the video is the same matchup sprinkled from last season, it worked, and it has nothing to do with being more physical. It's the threat of the shotblocker coming over to help. And KAT literally put his shoulder in Jrue's neck last night  He's too clumsy and foul prone to be told be more physical.

I'm glad to see PJ has improved communication. Interestingly, lack of communication seems to be a generational issue across the board for many 20-somethings. I see it in the workplace a lot. They all grew up in the iPhone era, and many of them never learned how to actually talk and communicate with others in person and in real time. For them, talking (instead of texting) someone is too "confrontational" and uncomfortable, so they lack the skills.

Thankfully, we're working on it.

robillionaire wrote:Let’s just jump all the way out the window this Celtics team has never beaten an actual good playoff team and if Randle Mitch OG and Hart didn’t all get injured last year Boston wouldn’t have ever won the championship just like they got spanked by an 8 seed the year before last in the conference finals and we’d be repeating. They also needed jimmy butler and Donovan to get hurt last year just to play fluke competition in the ECF and finals. The veil is slipping on these fake contenders. This is the first 3 seed or higher team they’ve ever had to play. They beat an injured 8, 4, 6 and 5 seed last year. Fraud alert! Regular season pretenders!

It would be funny if the Knicks just started giving public comments like 'The true test will be the Pacers. We'll have homecourt but that's the elite team in the conference.' Thereby infuriating both Boston and Cleveland.

Every team is just a failure away from losing its mojo. I think if they had lost last year, they'd be in a tough spot and swimming upstream because they would question themselves AND other teams would think they can beat them. Humans, they believe their own hype or their failure. So Knicks have to truly believe to win and then, they can, as long as Thibs makes timely corrections.

Win 4? Dunno. But confidence is a fragile and strange thing and momentum is just confidence in motion.

It’s almost like Mikal has experienced a re-entry into more of his Phoenix role. Lots of personal sacrifice to make this work.
