It has nothing to do with being soft, and everything to do with the fact Kristaps / Horford are coming over to help while Jrue slows them down.

Also, he was +8 in the game, +15 in net rating, had the tip in that gave us the 3 point lead, had 13 rebounds and then saved Josh's ass on this contest

Criticize him for dumb fouls, outside of that he played a good game.

Just look at this, why is he avoiding contact on old man horford?

I mean, it's a good move with the clock winding down. Slow and he does not have an explosive last step but he's not avoiding contact. Horford is backing up to avoid a foul and disrupt or block the shot.

Right before that, KAT makes a pass to Mikal who had an open path in and passed back instead.

It was a slow finesse move when he should’ve just took the bump and gotten fouled or score through contact. I appreciate KAT’s clutch tip ins but he absolutely hates contact and tries to play like KP way too often. I mean nba coaches are saying the same thing.

They passed him a grenade with 4 seconds on the clock, what are we doing here? Not only that, if Tatum had the same drive they're calling a foul, because Horford has his hand on KATs back.

He was 6-12 from 2 in that game too.

As long as we're dissecting this play, you can't use your offhand to gain leverage on someone's back. Even if he's not disrupting his jump or his forward momentum, which he likely was. Looks like a foul.

We've reached a point now, where we're ignoring fouls on Knicks players to push "soft" agendas after a win. Truly the darkest of timelines, we used to be a society.

Also even when he misses airball, it's better that he is chucking 3's. The team does better when he has that mindset.

Fouls hurt him and Mitch's time on the court was a positive. If that trend continues, then we will know more. I thought KAT played a mixed but basically impactful Detroit series. If we are going to win this series, he's likely going to have to have a couple of very big games.

Brunson carried us in crunch time in the 4th like only he could..
Hart and Deuce also brought a lot to the table.
Kat had a desaster second half on offense but I thought his defense and rebounding were reeeeeally solid.
Didn't like Mitch's performance at all. that +/- is misleading af imo.

no seriously. I thought he was on the floor when they just missed every single open three. and his FTs are a big problem...
I hope he steps up, tho. we need him.

Could be gassing up Brunson, or og, or mikal's defense, or deuce giving us good bench mins, or if he wants to complain the 3rd foul on kat was susspect but instead he wants to call kat softand post horford highlights.

We need you, like the Cs need Tatum, to be better meLo.

I’ve got tickets to game 4, but I’d still be thrilled at this outcome.

Tatum just humiliated himself so I’m expecting a monster performance Game 2. And idk wtf is wrong with Porzingis, but I’m glad he’s somebody else’s problem. Can you imagine the “illness” our guys would need to miss Game 1. If he’s back and Tatum progresses to his usual mean, this series is going 6 or 7.

does this really happen w/ how OG is defending everyone though?

Here’s another example. How are you letting Derrick white block you? Dude tried to go for a finesse layup on a smaller player. This is exactly what nba coaches are saying about him.

something that hasn't been mentioned here is that, the knicks answered most celtics 3's with a 2pt possession. this kept the game within reach before hack a mitch broke the balance for a bit. this is something i loved to see. always been perplexed by getting into a rushed 3pt shootout with a team growing a lead instead of fighting to preserve your position

Listening to the various podcasts today and everybody is pointing out how bad Kat was. Especially on D. This place sees what it wants to.

Whatever though, we won. That’s what’s important.
