can't afford to throw away games in the playoffs, kind of sad that we put ourselves in this position... That being said it did soften the blow a bit watching the Top 3 teams in the playoffs drop their first game. Wake up and I don't want to see anyone out due to illness!? Jordan played through the flu etc, it's gut check time man!

people keep calling KP soft, but i'm concerned he's got something more serious going on medically, beyond an injury. super weird that there isn't more details on it. i hope they've gotten blood work done to rule out more serious illnesses.

This is just speculation/reading between the lines, but I was watching TNT last night and the sideline gal said when the C's were coming out from halftime KP abruptly ran back to the locker room. So my mind went to a stomach flu or food poisoning since I figured he ran to the bathroom. Hard to play basketball with diarrhea or whatever.

Hopefully this is minor and unrelated to the previous illness.

The Porzingas era needs to end after this season

Not reliable 2 years in a row playoff time

I’m pulling for the player but like I said, injury risk is not worth a roster spot

I can't stand JB's game at times but I respect the hell out of his toughness and the physicality he brings. Porzingis has a weak/low iq game and is soft as hell. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Ideally, we find a trade partner trying to dump a useful big with lower annual salary but longer term deal for KP's expiring :noway:

Hopefully both of these guys are gone in the Summer. I was higher on Hauser than Pritchard to start the season but PP is the one who proved himself to be a keeper. Hauser belongs on the Wizards or Jazz

Well, if the Cs exit the playoffs sooner then the sooner guys like KP and JB can go, right?

I agree with some of the posters that White needs to attack the rim more. He has been elite at finishing. I lean that's more of the game plan but White needs to take it upon himself and attack more. With KP iffy because of sniffles/allergies or whatever, he has to be the third option and score around 20 every night.

I expect the Jays to do a lot more damage inside in game 2. That was the worst playoff finish in recent memory with the opponent really doing nothing special to force bad shots/rushed decisions, etc...just melted down on their own.

Game 1 was about the Celtics taking a playoff game for granted.

When it was tight against Orlando, the Cs attacked the rim.

In Game 1, it was like the Cs wanted the easy way out by taking home run shots to preserve the lead or take the lead.

Still can't believe JT took a 3-pointer with 5 secs left and the score tied.

I know it was against Mitchell and JT loves to shoot over Centers, but it was not a good shot, to say the least.

Common sense tells us the Celts will try to attack the rim more in Game 2.

But knowing this bunch of Celtics, I'm pretty sure they'll still attempt 40 3s in this Game 2.

Isn't that weird, that the Top 3 Teams all dropped their 1st Home Game(s)?
Can't get complacent in these Playoffs.

Don't forget Joe Blow.

The problem with that is Joe is Brad's boy.

If Joe goes, Brad goes with him.

The context of that is Joe is the only fruit that fell from the Brad Stevens coaching tree.

When Udoka was removed as coach, there were more qualified veteran head coaches out there than Joe.

So why did Brad pick Joe?

Because Brad knows if Joe wins a championship, that would validate the Brad Stevens brand of basketball.

From shooting 3s to switch everything defense, that's Joe using Brad's system.

So unless the Celtics miss the playoffs or exit in the 1st round, Joe is harder to remove, especially if Brad is still calling the shots.

I hate to admit it, but it's really looking like Adam Silver is doing a better job of balancing the league, compared to the David Stern era.

Small market teams like OKC, Minny, and Cleveland doing well is proof that the intended purpose of the NBA's new CBA is doing what it's supposed to.

I think Tatum took 4 or 5 iso 3's in the last 2 minutes of regulation. Just insane shot selection. Maybe he was tired but jeez, run an action with White or anybody to get a better look. It's not rocket science. Couldn't have worse decision making if you tried.

I agree.

That's why I'm disappointed, not because of the loss, but because of the decision making, the lack of discipline on offense.

Reason why both Cavs and OKC were better than the Cs in the regular season is because both those teams have discipline on offense.
Those teams don't force shots or resort to heat checks on a regular basis.

This bunch of Celtics just don't have the discipline on offense.

Well, that is unfortunate. Guess 1 championship is good enough.

A big part of the problem is KP. He is supposed to be the safety valve in those instances when the Jays don't have it but not only has he not been, but made the team worse on both ends.
