Situation is, Tomlin put up with Brown, because Brown showed up in Big Moments and Clutch situations. Pickens I don't believe has showed that thus far

Now we will see if Pickens actually agrees to play before accepting a $30mill/year contract

That’s very good for the cowboys, if true.

All Pickens has to do is keep his head out of his ass for 1 season and he will get the contract he wants.

You are correct, it’s a big if.

Overall the Cowboys have had a good off season. They have filled quite a few of the holes they had going into the off season. So once again, Jerry has given the team no excuses. Let’s see what they do with it.
Pickens is a major headcase.
Yeah, he's talented. But Pittsburgh doesn't want to keep him around for a reason.
The Cowboys haven't had this type of divisive personality probably since Terrell Owens.
Given they've acquired Metcalf, this is a good move by the Steelers. A massive gamble for Dallas. Not just on the field but also in that locker room.
They don’t want to pay over $20 million a year. The team may not even make the playoffs this year or next, so no point in increasing payroll.
Maybe they get rid of Watt as well rather than pay him $30-35 million or more.

Re: 2025 NFL Off-Season
Seems that Pickens major problem with the Steelers was their lack of direction in finding a good QB. He definitely could have handled the situation better but he didn’t want to sign with Pittsburgh long term if he’s going to have the spares they have at QB throwing to him.

They would've kept him had they thought he was worth keeping. But he was too much of a headache.

And they did not want to make him one of the top paid WR’s in the league. Pittsburgh is not very good. They are aging and have no QB. It makes zero sense for them to pay Pickens when they have so many holes to fill in their team. A 3rd round pick is more valuable because of the situation they are in.

Last I checked they haven’t even started the season yet. As long as they can stay relatively healthy they should be in the mix for the division title. You don’t have to agree for that to be true.

Re: 2025 NFL Off-Season
Another interesting tidbit about the George Pickens trade. If Pickens leaves in free agency the Cowboys will get a 3rd round compensatory pick for him.
So even if Pickens balls out and the Cowboys do not franchise him (in order to trade him) they still get their pick back. This trade is a win for Dallas no matter how you look at it.

Still, Dallas went 7-10 last season while Pittsburgh went 10-7. If it doesn't make sense for the Steelers to extend Pickens due to lack of roster quality, why does it make sense for the Cowboys? They are already paying top dollar to Lamb, too.

Too? They’re not paying Pickens big money. He’s still in the final year of his rookie deal. Also the Steelers and Cowboys are not in the same position.

That goes for every team though. I mean there’s a chance the Eagles suck this year too.

Indeed. Some teams are more likely to screw up than others, though.

True but in a league of parity we see bad teams become good in 1 year and we’ve seen good teams become bad in the same amount of time.
