Re: 2025 NBA Draft
Are there good jumbo playmakers in the range of our picks?
Unless we are able to see a high risk high reward transcendent player, I think jumbo playmakers are the way to go. See how the Knicks’ wings making it difficult for Tatum and Brown? Honestly think its the next trend teams will be built in the future. Then Curry starts to slow down, Victor will already be matured physically, the landscape of the league will change. Preparing for the inevitable would be nice. I just don’t think a small guard will have a position to play in the league anymore.

Hey, fendilim. Why don't you come back down to earth?
You think Cole Anthony has a chance against Wemby?

Listen to Locked On Big Board podcast…this is precisely the recent topic…I think these guys do a soli job of breaking down players. They seem to be a step above most of the knucklehead fanboys out there in their level of analysis

Re: 2025 NBA Draft
He looks like a mix of Ingles and Mo but with more skill than both. Feels like a system player to me, but his IQ is really high and you can’t teach that he also falls into that jumbo playmaker mold that’s been trending.ucfmay2000 wrote:Tarheel wrote:Michigan jokes aside, I like Danny Wolf with one of our picks. Can spread the floor, protect the rim and put it on the floor a good amount for a legit seven footer. I think he'd be a nice compliment to Paolo and Franz at the five.
He'd need to learn to cover for his deficiencies athletically/laterally on the defensive end, but I think Mosley could help get a tune out of him there.
I like his game too. Really interesting pick for Magic.
IMO he’ll be outmatched physically on defense but not psychologically and he has really good timing so he looks like the type that can make a defensive play when you least expect it, at critical moments. His shot is pure and we could use that, I just don’t know how he fits. Logically, to me he’d replace Mo.

Re: 2025 NBA Draft
That is more a thing that sounds good in theory but probably wont happen in reality. Because 1. Speed kills. Under 6'7 players will always be much faster and have a much easier time to get to the spots they want compared to guys like Paolo or Franz or Barnes. 6-8+ athletic Freaks like LeBron & Giannis wont exist more in the future.
2nd those guys will always have a skill advantage. They are used to play against same height or bigger players from day 1 they have a ball in the hand and have to find solutions to score against those other players. And because there are much more smaller people only the best of the best get to the leaque.
You will always have exceptions and the skill level of 6'8+ guys will further increase but the majority wont be jumbo playmakers.

the Knicks go as Brunson (a small guard) goes. and i also wouldnt call OG and Bridges "jumbo playmakers".

I would LOVE to get up to Maluach. It's pretty unusual to be able to jump up that much, but the mocks this year are all over the place, so who knows how big a jump it is. There are also quite a few teams up in the lottery that have recently drafted young defensive-minded big guys...obviously, there are other types of players for them to draft, but maybe they'd rather take two swings. Picture could get clearer after the lottery.
POR has Clingan
NOLA has Missi
UTA has Kessler
WAS has Sarr
CHA has Williams (don't know if they can count on his health, but...)
BRK has Claxton (who they could move)
PHI can't spend a high pick on a C while they're stuck with Embiid & PG
MIA has Ware & Bam
DAL has Lively & AD (even if they move Gafford)
SAS has Wemby...but maybe they'd like a brute next to him
HOU has Sengun & Adams, but they might see Maluach as the Adams replacement
If OKC gets MIA's pick, they might love to get Maluach as iHart's eventual, inexpensive replacement
That's a lot of teams that shouldn't want Maluach. ATL, TOR & CHI seem to be the ones he's most commonly mocked too (I'd happily take Poeltl)

I haven’t really seen more than clips…can he protect the rim at an NBA level? Will his offensive “craftiness” carry over to the NBA or will it just get run over by super strong super-athletic NBA defenders? How good do you feel about his ability to be a viable defensive backstop? (Not Gobert, just viable)
Kessler blocks everything and rebounds everything and he’s not an exceptionally agile guy (I believe)…Wolf is starting to really intrigue me as a (dare I say it) “unicorn”…am I way off?
I've no issue with his offense matching up against NBA defenders. It's not a problem for Jokic, Sabonis or Sengun and Wolf is bigger than all of them.
The defensive anchor point - who knows until he's in the NBA whether it matches up against the higher speed and athleticism, but he certainly has the timing down. He's the same height as Kessler but don't expect he'll measure quite the same wingspan.

I get what you're saying, I still would like a guard that can bend the defense, but I don't think you have a bad thought process, plus they may be forced to just take BPA anyway. I think wings with some passing chops would be like Demin, Clifford, Thiero and Will Riley (in that order of passing skill for me). Maybe Collin Murray-Boyles but he is more of a big since that shot is baaaaaad. Can guard wings though.
Jakucionis is 6'6 with good passing feel. Cedric Coward is a 6'6 guard/wing that can do a bit of everything, may be a riser. Chance he goes to Duke next year if he doesn't get a 1st round grade. I think I would be comfortable taking him 25.

I'm just at the point where I want to see that high BBIQ above all else...give me a team of various sized Ingles's around our core 3. Wolf seems like he might be one.

latest episode is a full-length interview with Raynaud...he's leaping over Wolf in my book, possibly leaping over #16. Check it out, these guys will be my summer go-to for draft profiles.

Just looked at Raynaud.
Definitely looks more imposing than Wolf. And more traditional big than Wolf.
