Hawks Interview Danny Ferry, Calvin Booth, Monte McNair For Lead Basketball Ops Job

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri May 9, 2025 5:17 pm

Danny Ferry has formally interviewed for the Atlanta Hawks' president of basketball operations position. Ferry previously had the job from 2012 until 2015. Ferry later became a special advisor to the general manager of the New Orleans Pelicans in 2016.

Ferry has most recently served as a consultant with the San Antonio Spurs since 2020.

Calvin Booth and Monte McNair have also interviewed for the Hawks' vacancy. Booth and McNair each recently vacated their positions as lead basketball operations decision-maker with the Denver Nuggets and Sacramento Kings, respectively.

The Hawks have also had interest in Bob Myers, who is expected to remain in broadcasting.

The incoming head decision-maker with the Hawks will be paired with incumbent general manager Onsi Saleh.

Ferry can't be a GM. He thought that Deng is not white

He said African Players break down early because they’re malnourished in their youth which no data actually supports

The fact that they're even considering Ferry just goes to show how dysfunctional this organization is. Interviewing a SAC castoff isn't a great look either.

Just to be fair he said a bit more than that.

Absolutely. The only way Ferry's name should have been mentioned during the discussion is when talking about the list of people who should be ineligible for the job.

I'd rather have Ferry than any of those other names, even with all his warts.

I would be very surprised if Atlanta rehires Ferry. He'll have to awkwardly address the ending of his last tenure ten years ago immediately, no?

Do the Hawks really have no other option than these sub-basement names?

Probably so with candidates knowing that the owner's son wants to play pretend GM, having say so in everything.
