A little bit of speculation, but the only reason you keep Doc, is that you believe it is what Giannis wants.

Since Riley all but said they are available...

Bucks in - Bam, Herro

Heat in - Dame Bobby (opt in) Pat 2026 1st (swap) 2030 1st (swap) 2031 1st and anyone else on the roster they want or any of the 2nds.

Bam
Giannis
AJG
Herro
KPJ/Rollins

Is there even any upside to keeping Doc around? I don't expect the organisation to do anything smart but moving on from his whole schtick seemed so painfully obvious to me.

And the heat would do this, because they want to be bad for the next 7 years?

People in charge are slow to admit mistakes. It eflects badly on them. But they don't realize it reflects even worse if you don't admit mistakes.

He had basically one more good season in the tank after he left. Helped the Heat get back to the conference finals. Then age caught up with him. If he wants to be a coach, I think he’d at minimum be a great assistant who runs the defense. I’d rather have him than Ham.

If we keep Giannis I think there’s a pretty decent young’ish squad to put around him from last year.
Giannis, Green, Trent, KPJ, Sims, Rollins are keepers and worth investing in. Question is then what we do with Bobby, can we we bring back TP on a vet min and reduced bench role, and what can we get at the MLE and DPE.

Kooz is what it is. Play him off the bench and make him earn some PT. Brook has been a warrior but it’s time to part ways.

There’s room to improve. But it’s tough to see us moving up to contender status next year.

Only upside is a scenario where you trade Giannis and the owners want to be cheap so they roll with Doc until his contract expires then hire a real coach. I wouldn’t fight keeping him in that scenario because he might raise the floor for a team with no superstars and his blunders are not going to cost them in the playoffs since they’d be lucky to sneak in via playin and would get smashed if they got in. The only goal in that scenario is have a better record than the Pels to avoid a nightmare swap.

If you bring back TP, Doc and Ham will keep using him as the starting SG, so you have to jettison him to stop that from happening.

Same deal on Kuz, if he’s around Doc will force touches and PT his way, gotta hope Nico is dumb enough to still want him.

Bobby is 30. If he’s around and wants to opt out, I’d offer a two year deal at $14M per with a third year team option. That way he’s another expiring that lines up with when Dame expires. If he can find a team to give him the full four year MLE then let him walk. His D and shot selection kills his value when you face good teams. His best skill is putting up points against bad teams and rebounding. You can find someone to rebound for far less.

Not trading Giannis and he is not asking to be traded either. Fire Doc and hire a competent coach either Malone or Jenkins is miles better than Doc! These owners need to man up and admit they made a mistake hiring Doc in the first place it’s so god dam obvious.

I wonder what it would take to pry Ajay Mitchell away from OKC. They're pretty deep with another couple of 1sts coming in this year, maybe we could find a way to grab him. Reminds me of Brogdon a bit.

I love trading for rookies we could have just drafted with one of our picks, but yeah, he’d be awesome here. Brogdon/Midds sort of composure, and I like the look of his 3 level scoring potential and floor game.

Find a way to get him and Joe to replace Trent, and we’re cookin’.

Play into the Hubris of one of the best GM’s.

If OKC gets #7 - Pat, ‘31 1st for Joe, Ajay, #24?

My thinking is that Ainge gave up 3 1sts for 1 Phx 1st. Maybe Presti thinks he’ll be able to continue to draft difference makers in perpetuity, and he’d value another distant 1st since they have so many in the coming seasons.

He moves an expiring Ajay and a good player in Joe, but also one who doesn’t get heavy minutes, for expiring salary and that distant 1st.

I’m sure we’re getting too much in this deal, but a dude can dream.

Saw a trade idea on instagram that was interesting. Kuzma and 2 Toronto 1sts to Brooklyn, Cam Johnson to Toronto and Rj Barrett to Milwaukee. I’m not much of a Barrett guy but he’s probably an upgrade over Kuzma and fits the roster better. Im intrigued with any trade that takes the option of playing Kuzma away from Coc Rivers. Idk, just a thought worth sharing I guess.

We need an upgrade for bigger wings. What about:

FA - Caris LeVert, Jake LaRavia

Trade - Ajax into space. To the moon, Ajax.

If the staff can get Ajax to simply calm down and play within the flow of the game I don’t mind giving him 1 last 3rd and final chance to be useful. I still like the energy he brings, he’s just the Tasmanian devil out there and needs to calm way the hell down. I’d also like him to be able to knock down some 3s at a much higher rate but no one is perfect.
