With the 27 first being tied to us as well, how does that work in regards to trading it? I know currently the Pelicans get the better of their own and the Milwaukee first, with us getting the worst.
I am assuming it would be: Milwaukee gets the better of their own and the New Orleans first, Atlanta then gets the other pick?
what scenario are you considering here? Giannis to Atlanta? or New Orleans?
Neither truthfully. For us to get Giannis it would require us to give up way too many assets. New Orleans doesn't really have enough either without gutting their team.
Since we own the "worst of the two", can New Orleans hypothetically trade just the Milwaukee part back to Milwaukee or would we have to be looped in somehow?

So there's a few moving parts here. We truly don't own either pick outright since there's a top 4 protection on both picks in our situation, and there's no compensation for us if both picks are top 4. So Milwaukee could effectively be getting their pick back and guaranteeing themselves to have another top 4 pick because they're now rebuilding and NOP might be that bad.
Essentially how this would work out is, NO would be giving their
rights to have the better pick to Milwaukee, and we would still have the worst of the 2 picks (both top 4 protected). We wouldn't necessarily have to do anything here since no matter what happens, our pick still ends up being the worst one. The top 4 part is important as well since Milwaukee could end up with both picks in '27.
In another scenario though, if Milwaukee wanted to gamble on the Pels being bad in '27, they could ask for the rights to NO's pick to be included as well. In this scenario, we would then need to be brought in to give up the right to having the worst of 2 picks so Milwaukee can actually have both their pick back and NO's pick. Milwaukee would only favor this if they really just want to guarantee themselves they will get NOP '27 if it just so happens to fall in the 5-10 range. This could happen in different ways by negotiating the protection or fully compensating us to relinquishing the NOP pick.
This is all assuming Milwaukee is dead set on being a rebuilding team in '27, so it really depends on what Milwaukee wants to do.
