Barca Beats Real Madrid 4-3 In Dramatic Clasico, Nears LaLiga Title

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon May 12, 2025 2:40 am

Barcelona overcame a two-goal deficit to defeat Real Madrid 4-3 on Sunday at Montjuïc, moving seven points clear at the top of LaLiga with just three matches remaining. The Catalans dominated the expected goals battle with a 4.11 to 2.56 edge in xG, reflecting their attacking superiority in a match that puts Hansi Flick\'s side on the brink of clinching the league title.

Kylian Mbappe gave Real Madrid an early advantage with two quick goals, putting the visitors up 2-0 within the opening minutes. The French striker completed his hat trick in the 70th minute, but it wasn\'t enough to overcome Barcelona\'s four-goal first-half blitz.

Eric García began the Barcelona comeback with a header before teenage sensation Lamine Yamal equalized with a curling shot. Raphinha then scored twice before halftime to give the Catalan club a 4-2 lead heading into the break.

\"They can\'t handle us this season,\" Yamal had stated after Barcelona\'s Copa del Rey final victory over Madrid just two weeks ago, a prediction that proved accurate as the Blaugrana secured their fourth Clásico win this season.

The result means Barcelona could clinch the LaLiga title as early as Thursday with a win against local rivals Espanyol, should Madrid fail to defeat Mallorca on Wednesday.

Barcelona\'s high defensive line was exposed at times, with Mbappé nearly scoring a fourth goal in stoppage time only to have it disallowed for offside.

The victory puts Barcelona on course for a domestic treble this season, having already defeated Real Madrid in both the Spanish Supercopa and Copa del Rey finals.
