It's a case of being content with what we have because we have no choice.

What we have is not the prettiest system in basketball.
But it delivered a championship and another 60-win season this year.
So as long as the system results in way more wins than losses, that's all you can ask for.

Time comes when the team will want a new coach because the current coach is not getting the desired results on the court.

So it's best to wait for the right time to aspire for the most beautiful offense in the NBA.

Since 2023, the call for Joe to be replaced hasn't stopped.

So all the noise about Joe is just that, noise.

It's just not Joe's time yet.

People gripe about the "system" but I don't even get that. People act like they just chuck the ball. They generate OPEN shots from deep at an insane clip. And they generate those looks without anyone on the team who is, individually, a great playmaker. White/Holiday are advanced metrics darlings and true "make the right play" guys but both are predominantly SGs over PGs because they lack great playmaking with the ball as a scorer/facilitator. Much better complimentary pieces. That's why SA viewed White as expandable during a rebuild rather than a core piece and why MIL felt they had to trade Jrue for Dame. Jaylen? Cmon... still can't dribble without looking at the ball. Tatum? HUGE strides as a playmaker but he looks like a clunky PF playing PG with the ball a lot of the time still... because that's kind of what he is. Despite the lack of individual playmaking talent, Mazzulla has put in a system of ball and player movement that leads to an insane amount of open threes. They don't go inside more because they lack the ability to dribble through traffic and make plays in those tight spaces. So instead they space the floor to remove the congestion that attacks their ball handling weakness.
