I really debated hard on mourning.
Wasnt sure on the fit and I think there are more center options than PGs that absolutely work with Kobe.

Re: Gregg Popovich Draft - Discussion
GM may have saved me from an even more bizarre team. But it would have been hella fun.

Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Re: Gregg Popovich Draft - Discussion
Tatum/Lebron is a bit of a yikes.
Lebron being both the best player in this game AND not in the "only one team" category was probably a bit too overpowered in this pool.
I pulled the trigger on Jokic/Malone because I didn't think I could afford NOT to take the best talent available with each of my first two picks.
If someone like Chauncey had fallen I probably would have felt more tempted to go a more conservative route.

Yeah, I could have taken 1 of 3 (or 4) players there. I think 1 of them might somehow still be there on the swing back to me, so we will see. I like the start of it. Might go full positionless basketball. Time will tell.

As much as I love Jokic selecting him did lock me in somewhat in terms of the guys I could pick. If I'd known Tatum was going to fall I might have taken Tim Duncan instead of Jokic- but at the time it seemed totally plausible that he wouldn't be the one to fall.
Malone falling was a bit of a stroke of luck.
Tatum seemed like the obvious pick to me at this spot.

I am a firm anti-conspiracy theorist- a firm believer that just because something makes sense narratively doesn't mean we should believe it. Cover ups are hard and long term cover ups are almost impossible in a league as large and unwieldy as the NBA.
But damned if that isn't the most suspicious possible outcome.
Still, every team has a stake in this. If it's really true why do the owners of the Jazz, Wizards etc (who also have representatives present when the balls are picked) put up with it? If this is really true they are really the teams that paid the value for Luka to go to LA. Why would they?
If they NBA is rigged to favor certain markets, why is it that Chicago, LA, and New York have 5 teams between them, but only ONE of those teams has won a championship in the last 27 years?

I have never done well building with Kobe....but I believe that Billups and Bowen are ideal perimeter partners for him.
Bowen defends and spreads floor.
Billups defends, can run offense, can create for himself, and can hit his shots from deep as well.
