2025 Draft prospects - thread 2

I like Carter Bryant, but how many low-usage college players turn into stars? Maluach isn't a skilled center, but people are letting Bryant off the hook here. Bryant's usage rate is lower than Pat's was. His offense at Arizona was cuts and spot up 3s. He isn't a highly skilled offensive player either.

you can't just dismissively say a guy is just a catch+dunk prospect when the dude made 75% of his 2pt attempts. obviously the volume wasn't really as high as you'd like, but making 3/4 of your shots against actual defenders is really really good even if those shots are basically just dunks and layups! if he can maintain anything close to that at the nba level, he could very easily be a plus offensive player without having any other dimension to his game on that end of the court

This and ignoring the downsides that come with skilled bigs. Most of them put a cap on your defense.

VJ is my least favorite top five prospect, but he measured out very well. The rest of the combine/workouts season should be cake.

i really wish i could find this, but i remember reading a blog post a couple of months ago that said there was basically no precedent for someone with carter's usage/on-ball rate leaving after their freshman year and blossoming into an impact player — but with the caveat that guys of that profile...usually don't go pro after their freshman year, and there were examples of players who had a similar freshman year and then leveled up their usage rate in college before going onto a noteworthy nba career.

i don't think i would let that scare me off drafting him, but it is an interesting question of how much he'll be able to develop some necessary parts of his game playing a tertiary role as a young guy in the pros vs. how he might be better off taking on a bigger role for another year in college.

Generally a disappointing set of measurements except VJ. I could see a few guys fall after these.
