And people say hitting coaches are a dime a dozen…
Judge goes external to his teams resources to teacherman, finds something that totally changes his ceiling, and now he’s almost impossible to pitch to.
When Vladdy stops that wiggle with his arms/hands and gets still with the bat connected to his trunk BEFORE he starts his forward move, he rakes. When the bat is still moving around when he goes to fire… he stinks. With all the hitting coaches they have, not sure why it has taken him so long to get him doing that consistently.
Also, does no one have the heart to tell him he doesnt have the legs to wear those tight pants …lmao Please go back to the Manny pants ( and manny swing!!)

I'm no expert but it seems like Vlad is not playing to expectations because he's hunting homers again. He did the same last year when he was struggling, then he changed his approach and started to drive the ball more. When he looks drive the ball he can hit with the best of them but when you see that long swing looking to send the ball into orbit, that's when he gets in trouble.

Honestly, with Springer it's more and more looking like he got badly concussed at that collision in the Seattle WC game, and then just took a really long time to recover because he didn't give himself time to heal.
****
Holy heck, the Jays needed a laugher like yesterday. It's been too long.

Interesting idea…
I think it is just good old fashioned pride. When you start telling professionals they cant do something, they tend to try and shut people up. Just look how many “underdogs” win each day.
All off season, people(including myself) were saying the Jays may be better off paying him to stay home or play for someone else by releasing him if need be. Thats some pretty good motivation to perform at a high level for someone who plays the game for a living. He has put in the work to clean up some mechanical things, and it has paid off. Like Varsho; the swing is simple, efficient and powerful. And that simple swing allows him to see the ball so much better again.
Another example… Blair and Barker ( and the internet) destroy Greene and Yariel on their show before the Angels series, and then they both instantly looked like viable high leverage options options again when next called upon.

I don’t think that’s what it is… he has multiple seasons of meh hitting… he needs to fix his swing asap. He’s wasting all of that potential because he’s not making the appropriate adjustments… he’s still hitting too many grounders, timing is off, late on fastballs… meanwhile Aaron judge went to a new hitting coach a few years ago and is now the best hitter in the world… he already got his 500 mill though so he probably doesn’t give a ****.

Are we ever gonna see someone resembling 2021 Guerrero jr ever again? Honestly, we’d be winning more games if he was mashing… it seems when we win it’s always the bottom of the order and support players doing the heavy lifting…
I look at Aaron judge numbers and I’m jealous. I thought vlad was supposed to be the generational one.
I don't mean to body shame or anything, but it never seems like Vlad is ever in peak shape. Maybe it's just his body structure, where he's always gonna look like that and be a little heavy. But I often wonder what would happen if Vlad truly dedicates time and effort to sculpting his body. Look at Judge, he's a tank. Just pure muscle.

You probably know more than me so i'll take you word! He hits too many grounders but he also hits a lot of flyouts. Like you said he's late on the fastball a lot...how do you explain last years hot streak where he saved his season and got himself a conerstone contract and why can't he at least replicate what he did last year in the second half of the season?

I’ll be honest I can’t explain it. That’s the problem. He’s had 2 great seasons at the major league level amidst a slew of average ones… I think his talent is what allows him to still be effective even when his mechanics are off… his bat speed and hand eye coordination make up for his overall **** approach. also even with the great average last year he only hit 30 home runs… the year before something like 27 and the year before 34… this year he’s sitting at 4… his power has been meh for a while. I’ve seen him miss so many meatballs already that I know truly elite hitters would be crushing.
If you go on YouTube, watch Aaron judges swing in slow motion vs vlads… he tips his bat and is often already moving forward at the ball where as if you watch Aaron judges approach he loads up on his back leg and then just snaps his barrel and uses his hips to generate power which allows him to sit back and wait until the ball crosses the plate, vs vlad who seems to move forward and attack the ball which leads to him rolling it over.
Also to address the weight issue, he was overweight when he was coming up when scouts called him generational so I don’t think it’s the weight…

So basically his swing is inconsistent, you don't know what you're getting from one AB to the next.Usually elite hitters never miss meatballs but Vlad misses those almost once or twice a game, this is concerning. It happened last year also during the first 2 months.
