Maluach has room to grow. Youth. Upside. Size. Aggression and love of contact. Soccer background to understand spacing. Great hands. Good feet and balance. Unstoppable interior scoring. For most of his rookie contract he will be a project. Won’t look as good on court as his +/- indicates. But when the game slows down for him he will be a problem for opponents to solve. Especially if he’s surrounded by good passers.

To me he’s the one player in the draft that has HOF potential if he simply lives up to his promise. Stays healthy. Other players have a head start and upside based on the chance that they overachieve. Smarts and work ethic. Khaman is a difference maker before he even really knows what he’s doing out there.

I’d take him as high as 3. Personally.

I'm kinda there but now I also might be making the
mistake of putting too much weight on one game,
the one Duke lost in the semifinals. Maluach had
a horrible +/- and zero rebounds. That said, if he
simply lives up to his promise, he could be really,
really good in just a few years. I'm going to trust
Dawkins etal to make the assessment. PS, I read
that he is highly intelligent as well.

Play him. Trade him midseason. But that’s probably what we will do anyway, unless he’s a thrown in on a draft day trade.

What? Wait...why?
Holmes is a solid vet 3rd Center, but he is NOT worth $13M. I assume we will waive him (Pay the 250k)

Shouldn't his contract be very useful in a trade? A team that needs/wants to drop below lux tax or an apron can trade for Holmes and cut him. Isn't that worth a SRP?

I am in COMPLETE agreement.

On top of that, he's mocked low enough that if we have 3, 4, 5 or 6, there ought to be a clever trade down that puts him on the Wizards & gets us another pick. E.g., someone is going to be in love with Bailey, Edgecombe or Johnson.

Suppose we are at 3 & the Nets are at 6 -- I'm happy to take 6 & 27 for 3. I'd even swap 18 & 19 in the deal.

VJ is locked in at 3 for me.

Queen is set in my top 5.

I take Sorber over Maluach. I just think his feel and instincts are significantly better and he measures out extremely well.

Im so far out on CMB, I'm not sure I'm keeping in my top 30. Doing a deep dive I got Jared Vanderbilt vibes. I didn't see anything special other than a smart, active big taking advantage of guys & defenses he won't see at the NBA level

The Jase Richardson measurements were just brutal. I know he can play, but it's hard to say he's a clear cut lottery pick as a 6-2 sg.
