It will be so disappointing if Giannis ends up in Dallas. Waisting his best years under Jason Kidd.

He was skeptical in general, but thought that was the fit for their timeline. I guess the NBA rigging may benefit us for a change.

why wouldn't the League just keep Luka in Dallas, still send them Flagg and then send Giannis for the Luka equivalent trade?

Rich and powerful have no consequences these days. But I digress.

On a positive note, in my eyes we can put away the Giannis trade ideas and focus on moving forward with him. The Flagg thing was the one move I could’ve seen in a vacuum for Giannis.

ETA: there’s also footage on YouTube of them rigging the lottery in front of live television cameras so there’s precedent. Google 1985 draft lotto

They wanted and needed a superstar in LA as LeBron will be gone.

The NBA should do the draft live and in front of every media members and on TV. Each team gets one's ball in a machine and the it looks like a power ball drawing.

League invites every single conspiracy and rigged accusation when stuff like this happens all the time. Incredible.

I mean you’re probably right. But it feels all too convenient that Dallas makes the most non sensical trade of an NBA MVP candidate just hitting his prime for a close to washed AD and not much else. Add to this Dallas didnt shop Luka at all and it’s hard not to think there’s a wink-wink deal where the trade is really AD and Flagg which at least is closer to real value for Luka.

Dallas gets a shiny new toy for trading Luka to the Lakers. Silver keeps the Lakers relevant for the next 10 years with LeBron nearing retirement soon and keeps ratings high in the important LA market.

But it would be so much easier to force the Giannis to LA trade than it would Luka to LA.

the world is a little different between now and 1985. like yeah the rich and powerful are corrupt but why would owners in Washington and Utah sit silently while they just lost possibly hundreds of millions of Flagg is as good as we think he is.

But what if it was random...like say a lottery....are they supposed to rig it to prove they didn't rig it?

This honestly sucks serious ****.
It's hilarious that media spent the better part of a decade fighting for the league to flatten lottery odds or get rid of it entirely so that bad teams wouldn't pick at the top anymore and now that it's played out as intended, they're starting to complain that bad teams can't improve

It was a movement to end tanking. Well teams are still tanking but the most deserving teams aren't getting the picks they need.

Honestly the teams only have themselves to blame for this. Once Hinkie went full mask off with the blatant and transparent tanking (and others followed suit) the NBA had to act. It was too damaging to the product.

Ha did you forget the world we're living in now? The one featuring crypto rug pulls in broad daylight, with no repercussions or even interest whatsoever?

Remember, this same league had a mobbed up ref, and when he was going to sing, the NBA took over the investigation and squashed it. And this was when things seemed to matter.

I've never been a "the lottery is rigged" guy. I am after tonight. That crazy Luka trade and then now this? Yeah, it's 100% rigged. And the cherry on top for Silver is Flagg (or Giannis) not ending up in Utah or DC. What a damn joke.
