My next hope is the Sixers pass on Ace and we take him at 4. If not, I'm tempted to just pick Tre.

he will be fine on offense. all he did was improve on offense at baylor. playing with melo will help take pressure off him and get him easy looks. He will perform well on offense. He only improved offensively at Baylor, and playing with Melo will relieve some pressure from him and provide easier scoring opportunities.

Take Edgecombe and be done with it.

Spoiler:
I think other guys deserve to be in the conversation but right now Edgecombe feels right. This would be the perfect landing spot for him.

VJ seems like the kind of player our front office and Charles Lee would like

Whelp it's officially time for me to actually deep dive on prospects.

VJ or Johnson. Johnsons measurables and his ridiculous measurements are very tempting. VJs athleticism is damn near D Wade though

No deep dive for me. My goal was to get LaMelo some help carrying this offense.

Fears is the best available. We desperately need another ball handler/playmaker. Sure VJ fits, but LaMelo is still going to be asked to run and carry the offense.

Fears allows us to take pressure off LaMelo from literally doing everything on offense. If the goal is to keep LaMelo healthy then you draft someone who can actually lessen his load.

I know this will be a unpopular pick, but I'm Fears all the way.

Johnson is intriguing, but he's just all offense. Can he actually develop into a 2 way player?

VJ wingspan is a good bit smaller than most of these guys listed.

Take Edgecombe at #4. Use some combo of #33/#34 or future assets to move back into the mid to late 1st for Fleming.

starters: LaMelo ~ Edgecombe ~ Miller ~ Miles ~ Mark
bench 5: Mann ~ Green ~ Okogie ~ Grant (IR) ~ Diabate
depth: NSJr ~ Salaun ~ Fleming ~ Nurkic

From there try to package some combo of Miles/Green/Grant/Nurkic/Okogie + future picks for some more impact players.

With the league cheat complete (poor Mavs but here’s your prize for saving the Lakers…keep cooking Spurs or better yet trade for Big G with your prize….oh and let’s help the Sixers cause..it’s Philly), we at least have #4. We will have to choose between Ace, VJ, Fears or Johnson.

ESPN’s immediate post rigged lottery analysis has Philly picking Bailey. Hornets picking Edgecombe. Jazz picking Fears. But we’ll look at them all, and choose from whomever the Sixers don’t take. Let the workouts begin.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Any insights to what Philly will do? At 3 you have to think their considerations will be Bailey,Edgecombe, and Johnson.

I cannot imagine them taking either of the guards since they have great young talent there as is, but Bailey also doesn't seem ready to contribute to a team with guys like Embiid and Maxey.

If they (delusionally) still think they can win it all with Embiid then trading the pick for day one veteran talent makes much more sense for them.
Your Charlotte Hornets! We’ll eventually get something right;right?

Edgecombe is slightly bigger in every category against Jrue Holiday except weight at the combine. Jrue is was only 5 or 6 pounds heavier at the time. Size wont be an issue at all given that hes also far more athletic.

Just checked Derrick white. Edgecombe has the Edge on both measurements wise.

I think people should be more excited about Edgecombe on this team. He has some warts, but so does everyone else in that range. There are definitely possible outcomes where he isn't a star, but hes also one of the more projectible two way players in the draft. Hes a nuclear athlete with a decent shot, high IQ, high motor, and hes the exact type of defensive piece this roster desperately needs. His finishing in the half court needs some work, but he could benefit from NBA space more than a lot of guys will because of his athleticism. His biggest limiting factor right now is ball handling, but he won't need to handle the ball much initially. I think this is the best landing spot for him if you are looking at it from his perspective.

This team desperately needs someone with his mindset and personality type. Hes as serious as they come.

I still like Fears as a prospect and would be totally fine with him as the pick. If Bailey is available he would make sense. Tre Johnson is the guy I'm weary of. I still think I'd be looking at Kasparas before him.

Personally thrilled at the possibility of Edgecombe. He has better measurements the Jrue and White in every category across the board. Not by much but it puts the size issues to bed. That argument is no longer valid. I love the idea of adding a POA defender, hyper athlete, good passer, improving shooter to the lineup. All he did all year was improve. Hes going to continue to do so in the NBA. If we draft him he will immediately become tied with Miller as my favorite player/players on the hornets. Hes a really good piece should we draft him!

Anyone who watched this team knows we need another ball handler/play maker.

Melo can't be the only guy who can create. We are going to be the same team with guys like VJ and Bailey.

The only answer was Flagg/Harper. Fears is the next best option, but people are scared of his size. Not sure why when he would be the PG.

Melo needs another playmaker point blank.

Look at all options including trades.

I'm all about BPA at this spot. If Fears is the best player go for it. I think he is a good fit too anyways. Ideally you want your BPA to be a perfect fit. I think Edgecombe is a nearly perfect fit (only Flagg checked every box), so if he is BPA and they take him that would be about as close to max value for the #4 pick as you could hope for.
