Barring a titanic KD to GSW-type situation I think the days of seeing repeat champions may be over. Getting through two straight regular and post seasons with a healthy squad and winning back-to-back is too grueling nowadays.

Unless if it's your favorite team doing the repeating of the champs, I'm glad to not see it (not the injury part though, I never root for that).

I'd be looking past the ECF and realizing only the Pacers are in the way for a finals appearance.

Definitely looked like the Achilles. Non-contact, couldn't bend ankle/foot, tons of pain.

I assumed it was an ankle at first but after the replay it was non-contact.

Man, this really just makes you appreciate how fortunate some of those other repeat and three peat title teams are that they were able to make it through their runs without suffering injuries like this. It was almost a guaranteed lock that Boston would be, at the very least, in the conference Finals and now they're most likely gone in Round 2.

Just crazy.

OKC are beatable, and we should be favored over any of the others. The west's top 4 just isn't as good as the east's this year.

This is a very sad for the league and basketball in general. Achilles destroyed so many careers. Yes KD came back eventually but he was very injury prone since then and his defense took a major hit. Tatum is an elite defender.

KD came back strictly a jump shooter. He provides almost zero rim pressure post-Achilles

Tatum either comes back another KD (85% of who he was) or another Demarcus Cousins / John Wall (less than 70% , no longer All-star caliber)

This also somewhat confirms what a lot of us thought last year. A healthy Knicks team would’ve given the Celtics are run for their money.
