Jaylen Brown offers?

Post#1 » by JustBuzzin » Tue May 13, 2025 2:46 am

I could see Boston blowing it up especially if Tatum is out for what is feared to be an Achilles injury. Brown is a good player, but his contract is probably an overpay. Now would be a good time to trade him and possibly get some picks for the future and a young player.

What would you offer for Jaylen Brown?

Charlotte trades: Bridges/Nurk/#4 pick/Dal 1st

Boston trades: Brown

Charlotte gets a established player and goes for the playoffs with a core of LaMelo/Miller/Brown/Mark.

Boston gets a productive, but controversial player in Bridges who's on a fair contract for his talent, they get salary relief with Nurkic expiring contract, they get a young player to have for the future with the #4 overall pick possibly Ace or VJ. And they get a Dal 1st for 2027.

Who says no?

Boston is in a unique opportunity to reset as they own their picks. They can get a haul for Brown and White, someone would add Jrue for nothing more than expiring as well.

I think Brown and Bane are similar tier players. What makes Brown that much better?

Size, athleticism and experience. Bane is a great fit next to Ja offensively, but they are so short lentgh wise defensively and need a POA defender like a camel needs water.

Not sold on a haul exactly for Brown on that number, but they could get value. Contenders should line up for White though. Load up on some picks/youth and hope Tatum comes back ready to lead a younger team?

Orlando should blow its load on White if made available

Jalen Suggs + 16th pick in the draft + Magic 2027 1st round pick for Jaylen Brown

Jalen Green + Jabari Smith + Reed Sheppard + 10th pick in the draft + Suns 2027 1st round pick for Jalen brown

Desmond Bane for Jalen Brown basically straight up(maybe the Grizzlies add a protected 1st round pick)

Dyson Daniels + Onyeka Okongwu+ 22nd pick in the draft + a top 5-10 protected Hawks 2029 1st round pick for Jaylen Brown

I would probably offer another 1st plus Konchar instead of Wells. But the opportunity to have two of the best two way players in the league in Jaylen and Jaren would be worth it.

Ja/Wells/JB/Trip/Edey

That team can win a title.

Suns out: Durant
Suns in: Brown

Celtics out: Brown
Celtics in: Brooks, Jabari Smith, Adams + whatever PHX picks Houston needs to send to make it worth it for Boston.

Houston out: Brooks, Jabari, Adams, picks
Houston in: KD

I believe this framework is legal for all parties. Celtics get off Brown + picks to reload with around Tatum in a year or two. Suns stay competitive (they would still look to offload Beal in this scenario). Houston gets their primary scorer without gutting all their young players.

Are you sure you can get a haul for Brown? His contract is huge and teams are thinking twice about max deals.

I'm not. I don't even think Brown is neutral value in a vacuum but teams are willing to pay for a player of his caliber, regardless of salary.

As a Celtics fan, I just don’t get Brown. Every time he dribbles I’m bracing for a turnover. I expect him to miss every shot he takes. He looked overwhelmed and confused all the time. But he’s still really good. Least aesthetically pleasing very good player I’ve ever seen.

I agree with the comments here questioning how much a team should give up for him on that super max, but teams do pay a lot for his skill set and two way game even if he’s kinda ugly to watch.

I expect Boston to keep him and White though.

Boston gets: Paul George
PHI gets: Jaylen Brown, assets

What’s a fair asset haul? Does it include #3? That PG contract is pretty **** terrible so Boston deserves a lot of value but they might be better off jjust keeping #3 and hoping he develops into the all star caliber player Brown is rather quickly. But with Embiid on borrowed time it’s be good to have Brown locked in so you don’t waste a year if he ever is healthy. It’d suck to have the #3 pick still “one year away” in a year Embiid defied odds

With Tatum out, that could be somewhat appealing on a stop gap basis. Sabonis as an offensive engine could help replace that. Still the same ceiling issue long term though.

Stevens was always big on defense so not sure he’d want Sabonis. But three team deals are possible too

I think Brown is actually less likely to be traded now that Tatum went down. With a healthy Tatum, I could see the Celtics retool around Tatum while saving money. But I don’t think they risk not having any star if Tatum doesn’t come back 100%, so they’ll have to prepare to potentially give the reigns to Brown. I think the rest of the team becomes more expendable though.
