Then they blow 2 home games, and nobody really showed up to help Tatum besides white in the first half. Even if we were down 3-1, I still had some faith in the Celtics coming back but then that devastating injury happened which really set the Celtics back. It’s a shame seeing how the other teams are looking in these playoffs to really feel like the team had a shot to repeat but they self destructed in an epic way usually how most teams do after winning a championship the following season.

I am glad they got one ship but i am a fool for thinking this group could win multiple championships. I mean this series is giving me nightmares. Worse feeling since game 7 against miami.

It was only this season for them to win it with this group. While the Knicks earned this game, the way Boston blew 2 home games just hurts the way they kill themselves out there. This series and the Heat series 2 years ago does not look good on Joe’s resume and there needs to be serious discussion on a potential coaching change. Aside from 3 point shooting, there wasn’t a whole lot of action being run on offense. Just a shame to blow these opportunities because they won’t always be there.

LOOK THEY GOT GREAT SHOTS WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT

Do we credit any of the blame to Tatum/Brown?

They have not executed in close playoff games consistently virtually since 2018.

It’s been an inherent flaw with teams led by them in basically every playoff run.

We won last year because we had so much talent it didn’t even matter.

Seriously, how many times since 2020 in the playoffs have we had bad losses because of dumb shots, sloppy passes etc?

That final play with Tatum going down was like a perfect representation of all the bad parts of their run.

Lazy sloppy pass, screwing around against a hungry team and bad injury luck to top it off.

Thankful we won last year and will always cherish that but I don’t think we ever got past the same issues with Tatum and Brown.

You can blame Joe but it was the same under Ime and Brad.

Maybe Tatum was doomed no matter what but we should have been up further in the third and maybe Tatum wouldn’t have been playing deep in the fourth.

The idealist in me would love for Brown and Tatum to stay together, Brad cooks and we end up with another good roster but it’s easier said than done.

We won’t ever be afforded such a stacked roster again with these two on it as well.

I dunno. The whole thing depresses me.

I still think even with the loss tonight we could have come back from 3-1 with a healthy Tatum.

Between the loss of the game and the loss of Tatum seemingly for next year, feels like we essentially had the door closed on two potential championships this year. If they won tonight they’d probably be the favorite to win it all this year and they’d probably have been one of the top favorite next year too even with some cost cutting move or moves. Two very real chances at championships were flushed tonight it feels like

Hell yeah it’s depressing but we have to be honest with ourselves on what we were rolling out on the floor.

Even hypothetically making the ECF and falling short would have gave the green light for the “what if” game and run back a mostly similar roster and would have slowly regressed into mediocrity next season.

Tatum’s injury removes reservation on a run it back season rooted in nostalgia and start looking at the future.

Might suck for a bit but we’ve been spoiled but there will be much to look forward to which we don’t see yet.

How the **** is Joe gonna survive two botched playoff runs where he was the coach of the pre season favorite?

I don't know how but I know he will.

Ime and Brad got the most out of their teams. They didn’t lose Playoff series they were heavily favored in. Joe has done it twice in three years.

It's gonna be joe last year one way or the other so I'll take the wins where I can.

Next year that is I mean. He's about to be massively exposed without Tatum, horford and KP/Jrue.

Man I can’t fall asleep tonight. It feels like the end. I usually been one of tatum’s biggest bashers but it sucks to see him go down. What a nightmare series to a team we had no business losing to.

Then let’s purposely be **** next year without losing JB, white, pp, and if Al wants to stay or not in a reduced role lol. It’s title or bust at the end of the day. The Celtics have always been so dependent on Tatum doing things maybe it will help these guys develop different skills with a bigger role next year.

Maybe.

I’m just saying I think Tatum and Brown have always been inherently flawed in a way when it comes to late game offence.

Brown has a shaky handle and lacks the basketball IQ to not get sucked into defensive traps etc and he doesn’t naturally create for others.

Tatum has improved a hell of a lot since his rookie year but he still doesn’t blow by defenders easily. He struggles to get to good spots all the time. His handle deserts him too at times.

We love to go on about bad shots by these guys and how they should take better ones. But defences have always been great at exploiting their weaknesses. Unfortunately Tatum and Brown as good as they are have never scored as smoothly and effortlessly as other championship duos. They get forced into bad shots because of their flaws.

You can move Joe on fine but I think the next coach will have the exact same issue.

I think no matter what ownership was going to be looking to shed salary.

Porzingis once again being totally unreliable was probably making that a very easy decision.

Question now is who will actually want his salary. He doesn’t exactly scream out to any team considering his issues with health.

Kyrie or Kemba with his version of the Jays would’ve looked hella nice lol. Would reduce so much pressure on the Jays. Holiday is old, really regressed and is borderline unplayable on offense a lot of times, Horford has a lot of scoring duds and is old. White really just changed his game to be strictly a three point shooter now which sucks because he can get into the paint, PP is undersized but is able to create his own offense which is nice. KP is just not reliable come April. With Joe not running anything you’re just asked of JT to get the ball near half court and make things happen late in clutch moments while other teams move the ball more and have guys who can score one on one.

Sad for Tatum and the Celtics fans. A championship window getting closed shut in one horrific moment. Not sure what they do moving forward. I think this injury makes a full rebuild possible especially considering the cap situations. So White, Brown, and Jrue could all be gone if the price is right. I think other than Pritchard, I could see everybody else gone lol

Return to Boston Celtics
