Giannis feels the Heat in Dallas

Post#1 » by RiotPunch » Tue May 13, 2025 7:26 am

MKE: Flagg, #20, Lively, Christie, Rozier, Thompson
DAL: Giannis
MIA: Washington, Martin

Why for MKE: Premium prospect, some nice assets to rebuild.
Why for DAL: Form a Giannis/AD/Kyrie Big 3, use free agency and TPEs to fill out the roster. Reunite Kidd/Giannis.
Why for MIA: Kind of a weak draft in the middle, get off of Rozier and bring in a starter in PJ and a great rotation piece in Martin.

I'm not sure dallas trades flagg for Gianis. Maybe as flag Is unproven, but flagg would be our Gianis. Stealing Lively [edit: And PJ] in the same trade is too much. But what do I know? Our GM traded a Luka for AD.

Disappointed not to see Lillard going to Miami

I think it is certainly possible that Dallas does this. Not sure if Likely though. They are well suited to just stick with Flagg.

I have this as an overpay, Flagg alone should be enough.
I have it as extremely likely that the best 2 years of Flagg career will be worse than the next 2 years of Giannis, I still want to roll the dice with Flagg.
Luka trade was asinine on value, but it was more asinine on schedule, a team w/o its future picks doesn't sell generational talent with lots of years to give.

title is clever

I think the value is about right.

And I'd still take Giannis over Flagg

Good job. This trade takes a lot for every team involved. The Mavericks become a strong Championship contender and take care of their overcrowded big men rotation. The Bucks get a blue Chip prospect that has Superstar upside and a young Center that they can develop, and the Heat bring in additional talent without paying a premium price.

I reject this trade as a fan of a team that owns both a Miami and Dallas 1st in the next couple years :censored:

Solid trade all around, but Miami getting PJ for #20 is light, feels like Milwaukee can do better by just taking PJ for themselves and trading him elsewhere

Miami accepts the deal. We reluctantly wish Terry Rozier well and thank him for his service. He'll be tough to replace.

Ahh, who am I kidding? Miami takes this and laughs hysterically! We also let Duncan Robinson go to save ourselves $10 million.

Not seeing DAL giving up the chance at 12 years of Flagg when they just got fried for their trade

It feels wrong of me to say Dallas shouldn’t do it because of Lively, or PJ, or Christie.. But stacking them up makes the value a bit stronger than I think is needed? do think Dallas still does it if they’re doing the base idea. It’s pairing AD, Giannis and Kyrie... Gafford gets extended, probably use the LAL first to get a decent guard and hope everyone is happy together..

But I also wonder if there’s a direct Miami/Dallas deal here if Miami would add a bit more? I am not sure what that bit more is though.. Terry has been really bad lately, but he is an expiring scorer and Dallas could use the cap relief after next season..

PJ was tough to gauge. Miami just made sense as a destination with Rozier. Maybe it's a future protected pick instead?
