Celtics would have to aggregate to make it work, so become hard capped at the 2nd apron. If bucks take back more money they become hardcapped at the first apron. Lots of moves by both team would be required to make the appropriate space and then the resulting trade needs to stay under the respective apron for each team. I can’t realistically speculate anything. Brown plus Hauser is 63 million. Giannis makes 57. Bucks make a trade before that gives them plenty of space under the 1st apron or include a third team that eats a contract from the bucks so they take back less money.
Celtics need to trade Porzingis or Holiday for a player/s making 13 million less or so as a precursor. It’s possible but highly unlikely.
Also is Brown, Hauser and picks, swaps enough?
Celtics future picks look better now.

You need to take off your Celtics glasses when you make those mock trades, that's utterly atrocious for the Bucks.

Wolves have cap issues as well.

So that's unlikely.

OKC should have the best package for Giannis. I think we'd have it, too... 3 FRPs/pick swap/ Brown... They can trade Brown for more picks.

My reservation for GIannis is that MIL should be asking for a handful of picks. OKC can hand them out like skittles.

Thoughts on this for a retool

Bos trades Jaylen Brown

Hous trades Dillon Brooks, Reed Sheppard, Jabari Smith, Cam Whitmore

I would take that Green kid, was his name Green from their squad? Wouldn't trade Brown for anybody else on their team. Long term, maybe Sengun, too.
Good assessment:

Green, Sheppard, landale would work moneywise.

C’s get Barrett, #9 and a future 1st/swap

Raps get White

Not a salary shredder for the short term but it is for the long term.

Not a fan of Barrett one but but he can be moved again eventually

Everyone with trade ideas, including myself, are underestimating the difficulty of finding teams that can absorb Brown's contract. Maybe the same for Jrue.

On that note, Brooklyn owns 4 1sts this draft. If they can absorb Brown's salary Brown for Cam and 3 firsts rders. Yes Boston doesn't need a ton of rookies, but there is talent there and we are in Rebuild mode.

Anyone else we trade Brown for we may have to take back some salary.

I bet Tatum would want to try, but we both know it would be better for Tatum and Boston long term to rebuild the entire year.

I going to use the David Robinson out and get Duncan the following year with a healthy David Robinson as an example. Imagine David Robinson came back the same year and helped win SA some games and costing SAS Duncan

that was about a one-in-a-million outcome for the Spurs. As Rick Pitino showed at that time with the Celtics franchise, you can't count on luck
also: we can't get that bad that quickly, unless we have a total fire sale ONLY TO get worse. Why do that?
also: who's at the top of the 2026 draft class? Not Tim Duncan.

All aboard the Giannis train.

Can't play "Mazzulla 3 ball" when Giannis is your main guy

I appreciate that it's super hard to make it work.
I trust that Brad and Zarren would be as good as anyone at making it work if there's any shred of hope for it.
It's a dark day in Celtics Nation.
Starting 2026-27 with Giannis and Tatum is what I want to daydream about. Giannis could stay ball dominant while JT found his footing again -- develop his off-ball game a bit more for his latter years?

we don't necessarily need the top pick. netting the 3rd pick for example turned out well for us in the past (Tatum+ Brown) that would be so much better than getting pick 13to 16 for example.
