Feel awful for Tatum but sorry, it can't supersede my joy at the Celtics finally having to face a healthy East contender and getting stuffed in a locker like the absolute frauds that they always have been. The injury gods giveth, and they taketh away.

They got a Finals appearance courtesy of Middleton going down in 2022.

And of course the Bucks have "failed" Giannis because they couldn't get out of the first round for three years due to Giannis, Middleton and Dame all being injured.

Celtics are in extreme limbo next year. Going to be an very, very interesting offseason for them.

Im no expert, but i dont think you can draw that conclusion from this.

You can. We explained it. They both made the same move, which puts tremendous force on your achilles. W/ Dame he also had a prior strained achilles to make him even more vulnerable to withstand that awkward movement.

I'm not saying you can conclude w/ 100% certainty the rapid return played NO part. Like if he's not tired does he lose focus to step back there? But even then, it was still early in the game. Tatum's was very late. And it goes to show these situations will pop up regardless.

Yep it’s the exact same thing that would happen to any team that loses their best or second best players on a top heavy roster. The league is too good overall to survive that in the playoffs.

Rough seeing Tatum's injury, but then there was an ad shortly after where Tatum is dressed as Batman and I was once again resentful that this low-wattage personality has been foisted on viewers as a de facto face of the league. As the good man Bo Jones opined "Jason Tatum is good, but I'd never go to a game just to see him play" and I remain perplexed (well, annoyed also) regarding the prolonged charm offensive of the relatively charmless. I dunno, hope he gets well and is back to hoisting needlessly difficult fade of ways.

It was obvious that Jrue deal would end up being an albatross before long. He was 34 when it started. Went to 38. He's not a star to overcome much decline.

The Celts need a soft rebuild. Everyone should be dealt, except for Brown, Tatum, Pritchard, & maybe White. But White will be 32-33 when they're back in contention. They were talked about how they were still a young team, but they low key got on the old side, quick. And very expensive.

Yeah, that was a sweetheart deal to Jrue after coming off the title to guarantee them another year or two of top tier contention. They had no plans of keeping him for the duration when they handed that out.

Regardless of where their season ends, this iteration of Boston looks done. Horford finally looks old, Jrue is declining, and KP isn't reliable.

I'd say the only reasons they beat us are/were Grant Williams and Horford. Without them (and now Tatum), we can take them.

Cleveland might not be suited for the playoffs, and Indiana is a team of well-coached role players.

New York seems like the most talented in the East now, which isn't saying much at all. If we can take advantage of someone's cap hell (while managing our own) this offseason, we are right there.

Weird we haven't seen an update/confirmation on Tatum yet.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

It's weird how the previous year's Championship team suffered an injury to a important piece.

A Pacers+Nuggets ML Parlay is currently +1665. Now those are some juicy odds!

Weird how they had already done the surgery, but the diagnosis wasn't even leaked yet. That's some great information control!

He'll do badly. He looks kinda cooked .

Maybe he didnt have swelling? Dame had his MRI the next day then you normally wait until swelling goes down.

So as much as we'd all hate it, it'd actually be pretty hilarious if Boston came back and won the series anyways. Would never have to hear any trash about Tatum being a Top-5 guy or MVP candidate ever again lol.
